Lovely hotel on sea front in Maddalena town. Friendly staff , lovely breakfast on terrace overlooking working harbour. Room was large, clean and comfortable
Just a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back to visit La Maddalena. The staff and service was fantastic and the breakfast included had everything one would want to start your day exploring the island.
Hotel is right in the middle of the busiest part of town, but even though we were in a front-facing, first level room we could not hear a thing through the thick walls and sound-proofed windows. The staff was super friendly, and the hotel itself while a little dated was just a charming place to stay. Recommended!!!
Highly recommended. Great hotel, friendly helpful staff, superb location overlooking the sea and the ferries. Close to all facilities and lots of good restaurants. Excellent breakfast
Overall one of the very best hotels ever. From the cleaning staff to the wait staff to the reception staff, all were dedicated, professional and so kind and friendly. The location, cleanliness, and amenities were top notch. Excellent breakfast to start your day. View from roof terrace amazing.
Excellent location to everything in town and ferry. Hotel is immaculate and staff goes the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and welcome. To make ever better, my only suggestion is to install towel hangers in the bathroom and consider having taller pillows thanks n the closet as an option. We would highly recommend La Maddalena and this hotel.
+ very friendly staff, good location, juinor suite was spacious (in contrast to very small standard rooms)
- uncomfortable beds, no twin beds, very bizarre rainfall shower, limited breakfast options
OK for a short stay, but regarding the price and 4* rating there are better options

Dear customer, You have booked a junior suite which measures approximately 35 square meters, so the comment "really small" is out of place.
As for the breakfasts, we have sweet and savory options for all tastes, and on two yuo has never had breakfast, so I wonder how you can comment on something you didn't use. Thankfully most of the other reviews belie this.
Perfect location. Marialouisa was the best. Had a view of the harbor which was great on one rainy morning. I was traveling solo, so location was worth extra $ to just walk to dinner or shops and be back in my room quickly. Town felt very safe, lots of dinner options. Breakfast was ok. Coffee mister could not get it together, I got my coffee at the end of my breakfast most days, which meant it was not worth asking for my second cup, just bought it on the street.
We cant say enough good things about the hotel excelsior. Its staff was amazing; the room was fabulous and clean and the breakfast was more than anyone could ask fir. Plus everything in town is right outside the door!
It was fine. Beds weren’t very comfortable and the noise from the harbor and the ferry goes almost all night and starts very early. The elevator was out of service at check in and arrival. I do t think we’ll return.
Staff were friendly and helpful. WiFi is terrible. Beautiful and convenient location. Would stay again.

Central location. One super friendly front desk worker; the others were average. The hotel advertising laundry; when I inquired the front desk worker sent me to laundry mat next door. I’m fine with that but returned asking for her to break 10 euros into coins for the machines. She was really upset by this and it was uncomfortable. The laundry mat had cockroaches so I wasn’t too happy either. The breakfast each day was good and the staff were really friendly there. The hotel was very average but priced above average. If you’re staying one night, no problem if the location is a winner for you. More than one night, look elsewhere.
Loved the hotel and town. Perfect accomodation for us.

A clean base to enjoy Maddalena....
The hotel is a great base to use when in Maddalena. It’s directly in front of the ferry and in the centre of the town. Whilst it is not pretty to look at the accommodation is functional and clean. If you are looking for luxury then you won’t find it here. Breakfast is poor, they use the cheapest ingredients and the staff serving are more interested in chatting amongst themselves than attending to guests needs. The place is very clean and the ladies who service the rooms are extremely pleasant. There is no pool and the terraces are rather unkempt and soulless. There is a rooftop solarium but, the furniture is tatty and broken. It’s a shame because it could be really nice. Maddalena is renowned for its beaches and nature. This hotel is a good base to enjoy the island.
Amazing central location.
Maria Luiza at concierge gave us all the good tips on where to eat, boat trip and the tips were one better than next.
It made our short 3 nights stat feel like longer.
We will connect me back
Located in city center. Friendly staff. Beds were a bit firm, but overall okay. Very conveniently located next to the port. Breakfast was sufficient. Would recommend!
The hotel was right across from the ferry landing and great location near restaurants and shops. They have an open air restaurant on the 3rd floor, great for enjoying the view. I would certainly recommend this hotel.
Great spacious, clean & moden Room
Fantastic customer service
Excellent location in the heart of the town centre and in front of the port
Wi-fi sadly was very slow

VERY EXPENSIVE ACCORDING TO THE ROOM WE WERE GIVEN.
The Excelsior is located right across the port and in the heart of the town, so it is easily found. The rooms are small by North American standards but very clean and very comfortable. Parking is not included. We parked in a lot across the street. Park anywhere between white lines and there is no charge. Breakfast was included. Beautiful view of the sea and the port from the terrace. Beaches are within driving distance. I would certainly stay there again.

Didn't feel like four stars...
The water from the bathroom had a very strong odor, internet was not strong enough to make a wifi phone call, hair dryer only stayed on for two minutes, rooms were very small and it said airport shuttle was available at the hotel, it wasn't. There was not any information in room about hotel facilities and I didn't realize there was a sun deck on the roof until I was checking out.
Very nice hotel however lacking a few comforts such as a swimming pool or gym etc. On our visit the weather was not good so could not enjoy the outdoors so somewhere to relax other than the room would have been nice.
This is a nice hotel convenient to the port. There is no hotel parking but there is free parking across the road and further down by the post office. It does sometimes require a little patience just to sit and wait a while but we always got a free place. You can pay to park but at €12.50 a day it does add up over your stay. The roof sun beds were a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. The bar lacked atmosphere as it was rarely used. Breakfast could be improved with the offer of freshly prepared omelettes etc however what was available was freshly prepared and good quality. Bedrooms comfortable if a tad small
