First & foremost the bathroom facilities are shared. This needs to be made quite clear, as 'separate' facilities is open to interpretation. PLUS you are sharing the ONE shower & male/female toilets with members of the family. So take that into consideration. The lock on the shower did not work & if you're claustrophobic the toilets will be a challenge ... lol. Bear in mind that this is a house and the stairs to the rooms & bathroom are steep. However, in saying all that, Mamasan, the hostess, was delightful & obliging. The rooms were great & you're located in a quiet neighbourhood. Some good restaurants, a 7-11 & supermarket are close by. As is the Tambaguchi Station, 1 or 2 stops from Kyoto Central & the line for Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. Most of the major monuments/sights are easily accessible, either by foot or bus/train. All in all a good choice if you take the above into consideration. I would classify this as more of a home stay or hostel with traditional Japanese accommodation.

Wonderful tatami room in a traditional-style house that feels completely authentic - this is old Japan in all its tranquil beauty. The owner is laid back and vibrant and made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. You'll need transport by bus or bike to the center of town, but the guesthouse rewards that extra effort. I would happily stay here again.

Quaint, traditional guest house with a very kind host. Room was clean and futon mats were clean and comfortable. Our room had interior facing windows to a lovely garden to let the fresh air in. Made for a great authentic experience in Kyoto. Make sure you arrive within the check in hours; it is a family run establishment so they don’t have someone up 24/7.

古くてこじんまりとした旅館という感じです。二階のお部屋からは古いベランダやご近所の瓦屋根、庭木、鉢植えなどが見えて和みます。 お部屋の正面に敬天愛人という額が掲げられていて、いい部屋に泊まれてよかったと思いました。

京都の下町にある昔ながらの旅館。建物も女将さんも年季が入っていますが、それが京都らしい風情を出しています。 6月に利用しました。少し暑かったので、エアコンを入れましたが、エアコンのききが余り芳しくなく、夏は大丈夫だろうかと心配になりました。 和室に布団、落ち着きました。

　長い間旅人を癒してきたと思われる、地域に根ざしたとても心温まる旅館です。女将さんは明るく優しい方で、楽しく会話をしながら歓迎してくれました。また、私がくつろげるように細やかな配慮をしてくださいました。 　ITによって、誰とも会話をせずに宿泊することすらできてしまう世の中ですが、この旅館で味わえた「距離の近さ」が私にとっては宝物となりました。また、古くからの民家で営まれる旅館ですので、鍵がアナログだったりと、最新設備が揃えられているホテルと比べた場合の「不便さ」はありますが、それすらもレトロで愛嬌があると思います。 　私は女子大学生ですが、同世代の多くの方々にも、「修学旅行で泊まった時のあの感じ」「おじいちゃんおばあちゃん家のあの感じ」という素敵なノスタルジーを抱かせる、京都ならではの特別な経験をしていただけると思います。 　絶対にまたリピートしたいです。ありがとうございました。

和を堪能

京都らしい風情の残る、静かな旅館でゆっくりと寛げました。お部屋は畳ですので、和を堪能したい方にぴったりです。 旅館の周りには歴史的な場所や広い公園もあり、丁度季節がら恵まれ、桜の花を愛でながら散歩が出来ました。 歩くのがお好きな方ならば京都駅にも徒歩で行けます。 女将さんも親切な方で、アットホームな気分で過ごせました😊

The property is a wonderful old building with traditional construction. It is a true old building and is therefore very quirky. My only problem with the property was that the property is mislabeled as private bathroom when it is actually shared. Everything else was as expected and a wonderful experience.

This ryokan is more like a home house than a regular hotel. The manager is a very nice person and it is easy to communicate with her. The whole hotel is filled with Japanese elements and it feels like staying in a Japanese home. Although the restroom and bathroom are shared, they are clean and I don't meet any conflict with other guests when using them. However, the location is less convenient than others. It locates within a historical residential area, nice for experiencing Japanese life, but it takes me about 5 min to walk to JR stations or bus stops, which is bad if you carry heavy luggages. Also it is very hard to drive there or take a taxi since the road is narrow. Overall, I am very pleased and satisfied with my stay here.

Все соответствует заявленным условиям. Удобный район: рядом метро, парк УЭНО, музеи, зоопарк, рестораны, кафе, торговые ряды, старый квартал, храмы, рынок, набережная реки, смотровая башня. Отлично. Сама гостиница тихая и уютная, отзывчивый и внимательный персонал. Очень чисто. Посетители и иностранцы, и японцы, путешествующие по стране. Завтрак - 3 варианта на ваш выбор. Номера в традиционном стиле. Халаты - кимоно. Все в номере есть.​ Рядом небольшой сквер-площадка с сакурами , он же детская площадка; , японский садик с молитвенным местом. Оплачивали при заселении наличными. Цена в соответствии с ценой бронирования в местной валюте , без доп. наценок. Очень довольны. Будем рекомендовать. Спасибо!

一見民家に見えるので、本当にここなのかと迷いました。昔ながらの旅館で設備は年季が入っていますが、それがかえって懐かしい感じがします。おかみさんは気さくで応対が気持ち良かったです。風呂とトイレは共同ですが、入浴券を頂いて近くの銭湯に行きました。この銭湯も昔ながらの銭湯と言う感じで、木札の下駄箱とか、番台とか、鏡の広告とか、久々に見ました。

京都の常宿にしたいです

建物は古くて部屋も広くはありませんが、最低限の設備は整っており、一人で泊まるだけなら十分です。環境も静かで、部屋もきれいに掃除されており、とても居心地はが良かったです。女将さんも気取らない人柄で、親戚の家のような感覚でリラックスできました。お風呂は、女将さんから近所の銭湯の利用券をいただけたので、そちらに行ったのですが、昔ながらの風情のある銭湯で楽しめました。町の雰囲気も良いのですが、唯一、近くにコンビニやスーパーがないのが不便かも。予め買って行くといいと思います。総じて非常に満足度は高かったです。一人で京都に行くときはまた泊まりたいです。

優點：日式傳統住宅能體驗日本文化、整潔、房間空間大、距JR丹波口駅約6分鐘步程（但要留意各個路口，因很多小街，轉錯路口，很難再找回該走的路，可能位處舊式日本小街，它是日本國家文化遺產）、老闆娘非常友善、房租合理、JR丹波口駅附近有便利店及超市 缺點：因日式傳統住宅，所以洗手間及沖涼房都不在房內（當然可以改裝，但相對老闆會負擔很重成本，所以我估計這很合理），走廊沒有冷暖氣，特別在冬季會非常冷（房間有冷暖氣）；所有房間都在2樓，若行李較重，就要注意自行搬上（我住了7晚，行李頗大及重，幸好老闆娘幫忙）、雪柜是公用的 若再次遊玩京都等，我會選擇此酒店！

A very traditional guest house in the city.

I mostly enjoyed my time here; the guest house is close to JR Tambaguchi station, which means good transport links. The staff were nice to me and very open to my various needs. The room I got was pretty spacious, and came with power sockets to spare, WiFi and complimentary tea and a hot water dispenser. The only real problem was the lack of an ensuite bathroom, and the only bathroom being down a set of narrow stairs. If you are comfortable with this, then I wholeheartedly recommend this place to stay while in Kyoto.
