"Hotel is clean with beautiful landscape. Reception staff was patience despite the language barrier. They managed to help our friends change to a non smoking floor as the floor they were originally assigned smell of smoke from guests smoking from ground floor. The buffet dinner was great, with free flow of beer, soju and wine. Desserts was excellent. Onsen was great too though the bath house looks a bit run down. But it was clean. Lots of parking space for those who drive. The only downside is...

Kurokawa, Mori no Cottage
3.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, 32 reviews
"Very clean and very comfortable. They are very vague about you putting everything back. Does it mean you have to wash all of your dishes and put them back exactly? Communication was lacking. Of the two emails I sent, I never got a response. I left some stuff there and asked if it was found and they decided not to answer me. I ended up leaving it there so I suppose someone else is not enjoying it."

"We had a wonderful stay. The atmosphere, food, staff, and hospitality are amazing. We loved the onsen available on site, but also managed to visit other onsen in town (you can get an onsen hopping pass from the town visitor center). Overall very tranquil and relaxing. One thing to note is that the pillows can be small and you may need to ask for larger or additional pillows. Highly recommend and would visit again. "

Yukyou no hibiki YUSAI
3.0 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, 54 reviews
"Great value. Beautiful facility. Good service. Buffet dinner and breakfast were especially enjoyable. Variety of onsens on site. They even have a rooftop telescope for stargazing. Only con was the Japanese rooms do not have any shower or tub. Nowhere to take a shower in your room. You must go to the onsen and be naked in front of others to bathe. I'm not sure where one would go if they were uncomfortable with that. "

"I highly recommend this ryokan if you are visiting Mt Aso. We stayed at the two storied migi room with a private outdoor tub and an indoor jacuzzi. The space was immaculate and spacious. You must book the half board rate that includes the most sumptuous breakfast and dinner you will find anywhere. You will need to take a bus/train to reach the main Aso area but that we no issue for us. Every staff we met extended the highest hospitality we ever experienced. "

Kurokawa Onsen Ryokan Ichinoi
3.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, 324 reviews
"The photos don't do this ryokan justice. We had a semi-western room and it was very large (even compared to other ryokans) - so big it even has a little corridor. Room and overall facilities were quite modern. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. Private onsens require booking and a 1000JPY fee which is ok but half board for my 2 year old child at 5500JPY was quite steep considering what they served (and options are limited given the amount of raw food for dinner).
