"Beautiful authentic stay
The hotel is a little old fashioned but still beautiful and the views are spectacular.
The onsen public bath was really good too - spacious , clean and relaxing. My whole Emily is reallly happy "
"The hotel looks new, in a convenient area with many popular dining options, Don Quijote. Staff are polite and auto check-in and fast check-out. Able to park the car right in front if you drive."
"A beautiful modern ryokan with friendly and helpful staff. Everything you need to hike the Nakasendo where is comes to a place to stay. Would stay again. "
"This hotel looks like it was designed for people just passing through (truckers, sales people etc) not really tourists but it was fine. Small rooms, nice breakfast helpful staff, priced right."
"Lovely owner, great location and that's about it. Paper-thin walls, no towels and only a couple of showers/restrooms to share among us guests. Not great value for a 13,000 yen private room. "
"The staff is very friendly. The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, and liquid soap. There is a small refrigerator available; make sure to turn on the dedicated switch to power up the refrigerator. A yutaka is available for use. The hotel has a nice bathhouse! There are washing machines & dryers available on site.
The breakfast is amazing- a large selection to choose from. The hotel has a restaurant. The closest restaurant outside the hotel is a Yoshinoya."

"Amazing stay at this hotel. The onsen is very picturesque and the all inclusive aspect and food available was high quality. We also really enjoyed the massage chairs and ping pong. Exceeded our expectations."

"Our experience was wonderful. We had almost no idea what to expect at Kamanuma - we just wanted to experience a traditional style Japanese Onsen and visit the beautiful Kiso valley. From the moment the chef/co-owner (brothers) picked us up at the train station, and all through the stay, the staff were very kind and helpful. Their focus is on a relaxing stay, with quiet tatami matt rooms, a peaceful tea-stocked central lobby, and separate hot/cold baths for men and women. Baths open all day to onsen guests. What really blew us away was the veritable feast they presented for both dinner (at 6) and breakfast (at 8). A dozen items were served at each meal, comprised of local fish, prepared produce, and sake, as well as soup, miso, pickles, rice, natto, seaweed salad, pork, red deer, omelette, and more (these were summertime selections).
We were the only non-Japanese there (they said they have primarily Japanese clientele, and learned and enjoyed it so much. Highly recommend!"
"This ryokan was beautiful with a spacious room and great mountain views. The onsen was particularly nice with indoor and outdoor mineral baths, a cold plunge, and a sauna. There was also a private shower in our room if you aren’t interested in the onsen experience. The half board was good but served traditional local Japanese food - great for the adventurous eater but it may not be for everyone. Though I found enough familiar things to feel full at dinner and breakfast. It was a special place, great for relaxation but probably not appropriate for children. We wished we had more days there to soak in the natural surroundings and just relax. "

"I've used this hotel many times for more than one week at a time, but they never greet me such as "Welcome back!" or "Thank you for using the hotel always." They are always too business like. I hope they are a bit more friendly. The hotel is very comfortable to stay though!"
