I stayed here with my daughter and we had a wonderful time. I loved the onsen and walking around the resort and dining in our robes and slippers, so relaxing! the food was great, so many choices.
The Taoya Hotel is exceptional. After hiking the Nakasendo trail, we enjoyed a spectacular Japanese and Western buffet. There was sake, beer, and wine included. After dinner we soaked in the onsen and relaxed our tired muscles. The onsen had a cherry blossom tree in full bloom for us to view. You should definitely go there.
It is a big hotel with lounge, fireplace and a large reception waiting area. Staff were friendly and onsens good! The buffet breakfast and dinner were great; with local selection as well as western. If you like to drink, there are beers, sake and wine too.
Room was great, traditional Japanese style, roomy and new. Lots of amenities, free beer, ice cream and drinks for after bath, free massage chairs and between 9:30 and midnight, free duck soba.
Amazing stay at this hotel. The onsen is very picturesque and the all inclusive aspect and food available was high quality. We also really enjoyed the massage chairs and ping pong. Exceeded our expectations.
Went hiking on the Nakasendo Trail. Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, as it is one of the closest and best hotels in the vicinity.
Overall, it was a good experience. Staff were courteous, as usual, with the Japanese hospitality. The room is clean, but a bit tired. Could do with a renovation.
Buffet is good, a wide spread of food and drinks, and the quality is good. Service staff are friendly and extremely hardworking. Except you get the same Breakfast and Dinner menu every day. I think they don't expect anyone to stay beyond 1 day. No other restaurants nearby, so you don't have much of an option.
We very much enjoyed this hotel with a nice onsen facilities and included buffet dinner and breakfast with lots of food options. Clean, modern tatami room. Most guests are Japanese families and couples
I was delighted to find the afternoon tea, coffee, snacks and draft beer lounge. Local bus stop right outside (although buses are infrequent in the area). Lovely onsen, great meals, relaxing vibe.
If you’re looking for a 24 hour a day spa experience with beautiful mountain scenery, this is for you. My only suggestion would be to make arrangements with the hotel to catch one of their shuttles prior to arriving.
This property is beautiful and convenient for walking the Nakasendo Way. The onsen was wonderful! The restaurant served delicious dinner and breakfast! The amenities were fabulous! The staff were absolutely fantastic and helpful!!
Loved this place even though it’s a little hard to get to. Great staff who were very helpful despite language barriers. Enjoyed the private onsen experience. Fantastic buffet with all the inclusions.
We had the most amazing stay at this property. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant, we greatest appreciate their hospitality and thoughtfulness.
We stayed here while hiking the nakasando trail and it was the best decision. The onsen was beautiful. Everything was clean. Staff were superb. The dinner and breakfast buffets were amazing. Can’t wait to come back.
We had a wonderful stay at this bezutiful hotel. It was somewhat remote via train but once there the charm and natural beauty of the area made it all worthwhile. Our room was a suite in traditional Japanese style. It was immaculate with many amenities. The buffet breakfast and dinners were of excellent quality and variety. We can highly recommend the hotel and its most helpful staff. The free shuttle to the station made our departure carefree. Arigato!
I stayed with friends after magome-tsumago trip. Food and onsen was amazing. They also have free massage machine in the hotel. Bus schedule to go there is not much, so you need to plan your trip well in advance.
Very kind and helpful staff and very nice onsen. The food is very mediocre at best. The hotel is far away from train station and many sites so you need to plan well. Sometimes the hotel charges for extras that seem very petty and not in good spirit given the price of the overall hotel. Amazing massage chairs!
This is the place to relax and have a recharge day in the middle of a trip. We checked in after a day of hiking and instantly relaxed, and decided to stay on property the next day. The onsen facilities were great, the buffet fantastic, the views beautiful, the staff very friendly. Make sure you either have plans during the day or a book to read, as there is nothing to do at the property between 9 and 3. I had a book and just spent a peaceful day reading in between onsen hours. Loved it, and would come back again if I visited that area.
