After staying for a night I had the best night sleep I could ever have. With the rooms being placed not directly inside the pub makes it for a great night sleep. Only fault is the walls are not super sound proof. However, from a range of breakfast options which is cooked and continental, to the location of being directly in Kendal town center it truly is a magnificent place. Do not let it being in town center fool you from the experience. It's like you wasn't even next to a high street. The staff was fantastic when I was there accomodating to all sorts of things. It was a pleasure staying there and I encourage anyone that wants a affordable but amazing value for money option to select this place in Kendal if you are going to stay
A lovely big room, very comfy bed, good shower and extras like coffee. Very convenient for exploring Kendal. Staff were great and cooked breakfast delicious.
Id recommend staying here for a short break.
What a great stay me and wife had. Will go back again if we stay in Kendal again. Room was great and breakfast fantastic. Staff were excellent and super friendly
Nice property, very central. Friendly and helpful staff. Only cioncern is that to get to the parking area, you have to drive through a very narrow passage. Not for the feint hearted with a large car!
Excellent situated in the centre of Kendal and offers car parking (free - but beware entry is narrow!). Rooms directly off the rear courtyard, so removed from any noise from the pub. Excellent breakfast (full English or Continental) included in room rate served by v friendly staff. Only downside - make sure the separately-switched extractor fan is on before showering!
Great place for a stop over for a business trip. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Perfect and what I as looking for. Great Breakfast as well
Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast included in price is useful and we enjoyed a cooked breakfast everyday. The continental breakfast could be improved. Not a lot of choice but ok to have a juice or fruit in addition to cooked breakfast. Sky in room but did not work and signal not great so used my iPad to watch TV when signal was bad. Tea and coffee in room very useful but a bigger fridge would be very helpful. You can’t fit more than 2 cans of coke in fridge. Overall good experience
My husband and i book for 3x nights arrived Monday 24th September found the pub closed after phoning the number left on the door the manager turn up after booking in was told the pub would be closed all day Monday and no food on till Thursday afternoon then only open till 9.00pm with the scaffolding being up all way round not good start to short break But the staff was very good big thank you to Rachel nothing was to much trouble. It would have been nice if we was told about the dinning and closed times.
Stayed here for 2 nights, ideal location, carpark included and breakfast.
We ate here every night too, the food was lovely, good choice to choose from.
Staff all very helpful and pleasant. Room was a really good size - highly recommend.
Very helpful staff. Nice room with good shower, if not a little small, but very quiet. Reasonable breakfastr but I'd prefer grilled to fried breakfast. Would return though.
Good location, great pub with surprisingly good food! One of the best pub we have been in our 2+ weeks in UK. No rowdy and noisy patrons, Love the 70s and 80s music.
Staff at the Shakespeare are fantastic, from check in to checkout they were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very good, lovely comfy bed and an excellent bathroom with walk in shower - they even provided a mini fridge with milk. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, we had the full english and it kept us full for about 10hrs!!! Again the staff were so friendly... Overall this was a great stay and I would highly recommend the Shakespeare to anyone.
Great little place on Kendall high st. Very friendly owners and food was really good. Try the homemade Wobbly bob pie. Delightful.
Be mindful of parking. Spaces are fine but the driveway through to the back is narrow and needs concentration to get through first time!!
