"Pros: responsive staff, easy close parking, near HVNP, easy check in, towels smelled great!
Cons: I would look elsewhere in Volcano if I come to the park again. This place did not meet my expectations. The rooms need a fresh coat of paint, deep clean, new carpet, better mattresses and more outlets. The only outlet near the bed was behind the big impossible to move bed and both lamps were plugged in to that outlet. There were stains on the carpet and when I unplugged a lamp to plug in something I saw a LOT of dust back there. Also around the window of the back door, there was considerable dirt. Like I said, it needs a deep clean. Let’s just call this place rustic "
"This is a lovely rustic place to stay. When I rate the condition as excellent, it might not be for everyone. I like rustic. It's in the fern forest surrounded by giant ferns and orchids growing out of trees. It's minutes from Vocano National Park. There was a lovely basket of fruit and a plate of banana bread with butter on the table when we arrived. The room was clean and the beds were comfy. "
"This was a super cute, unique place to stay. Beautiful property, amazing rooms!! We reserved 3 rooms and all of them were different, spacious, and comfortable."
"This is a very nice lodge with a great history. The room was spacious and we really enjoyed the hot tub and the nature trail. My only complaint is with the people in the room beneath us as we heard them talking well past the quiet hour of 10:00 pm. As the inn has no night manager, I was required to deal with it myself by talking to them directly. Not sure if the insulation between the rooms is adequate. We did hear other neighbors as well but they respected the quiet hours. "

10/10 Excellent
"Great little off-the-beaten path of the Big Island. Loved the quiet, the millions of stars, the fireplaces, and the amazing volcanic rock that seemed abundant everywhere. Like it's a botanist's dream!Stayed with our 3 teens. the owner Stacy was phenomenal, welcoming, sharp as a whip, and contributed immensely to our stay. The caretaker Jen was super available for any questions, concerns, or needs we had. Thank you both tremendously!Best regards!Shannon"
"Ocean was visible.
Bathroom is in separate building.
Walls are not animal hide but vinyl!
Bring drinking water with you, what is available is rain catch with vinyl particles in."
"Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Very pleasant when showing us the cottage and grounds. They were easy to communicate with and responsive. The cottage was very clean, spacious and well equipped. The setting is pleasant with a view to the south from the lanai."
"Nice rustic place. We normally stay in 4 and 5 * hotels and this was not that but it was a cool little spot for what the town is. It’s remote with not a lot of choices. The room was clean and if we can’t get a room in the park again when we’re there next, we will try to stay here again. "
