It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Great location right in the middle of Kandy city by city center and lots of shops and restaurants. Staff very helpful and friendly, even upgraded my room and immediately sent someone when there was a minor leak in the AC to fix promptly. Amazing buffet breakfast, clean sheets and tidy room

My friend and I spent a few nights here and we enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and the hotel itself is within walking distance of the Kandy attractions. There was also private parking for our TukTuk.

The staff here were lovely and the restaurant served nice food. However the hotel itself is quite dirty and looks very different in reality than in the photos. Although I do note this hotel was very cost effective.

The location is only 10 minutes walk to the Temple of the Tooth which is perfect and it's in the middle of a multitude of shops. We stayed in the standard rooms and they suited our needs perfectly. Fabulously comfortable beds and rooms very quiet.

I had a gMy stay at the Kandy City Hotel was truly great. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, and their friendly attitude made my stay all the more enjoyable. The hotel's location was perfect, within walking distance to both the Temple of the Tooth and the lake. Despite its central location, my room was surprisingly quiet, providing a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the city. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. Although the wifi was not the strongest, it worked well enough for my needs. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Kandy City Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in Kandy. From the friendly staff to the excellent location, this hotel truly exceeded my expectations.

We booked this hotel from overseas based on pictures posted and the location. The location is fantastic and it is such a charming hotel but badly maintained. The standard of the property is very poor. The couches were dirty, the rooms were not properly cleaned, the appliances were broken and the air conditioner did not work properly. It is a shame that the hotel has been brought to this state. We will not be staying there again anytime soon.

Needs a good deep clean.

With some elbow grease and a bit more time taken by cleaning staff and management the rooms would be more comfortable. As it stands, they are quite grubby - grime all over the light switches, water stains on both the bedside lamp shades - not sure how that happened. Splash marks of coffee and food splattered on the wall behind the bin in the room and finally both pillows were so lumpy they should have been replaced years ago. Aircon didn't put out much coolness, but the ceiling fan worked well. Service from staff was excellent at check in and out. Location is good if you want to stay right in the city, and rooms are quiet. The adjoining bar has draft beer on tap, and does a selection of meals. Overall, there is potential for this to be a reasonable hotel, if its given a good clean once in awhile.

The hotel is a very old one. The room was also much smaller than the the picture shown on the Expedia. However, that is not the point. The ceiling was leaking water to the floor on the night before we left. Maybe water from AC unit? The floor was wet all night. The staff were friendly most of time. But when we asked if we could reheat the leftovers food we had using their microwave, the front desk man said no giving the reason that we didn’t buy the food directly from their own restaurant. We picked the hotel because it is close to the train station. Now we knew the concern was not necessary as the tuktuk is dirt cheap there. One dollar or two could go very long way. Next time we will know better.

Auch am zweiten Abend hatten wir Nachtessen gebucht! Erstens wusste der Kellner davon nichts und dann bat ich den Fernseher leiser zu stellen! Sie spielten lautstark Cricket. Er sagte das gehe nicht, die jungen Männer seien gekommen um Cricket zu schauen! Frage: was ist wichtiger? Hotelgäste die in Ruhe essen wollen oder Gäste die Fernseh schauen????

if you want to be based in the city, the location is great...a few minutes walking of the temple of the tooth and the lake. while the reception area is quite small, the hotel has about 30 rooms in the back. Our was quiet since overlooking a back street. The room was clean although they might wanna water wipe the dark floor after each customer. The room and bathroom fits the pictures. Shower system is quite modern which is not always the case in similar hotels in Sri Lanka. The bellboy took me to my room but I have no idea why...since I was carrying my 2 bags...AND the key... He did open the door though.. I'd stay again gladly.

Buena ubicación pero rozando un tres estrellas

El hotel está muy bien ubicado. Las habitaciones están bien y más o menos limpias, aunque podrían mejorar. Mejor no mirar el exterior ni abrir las ventanas donde las aves dejan de todo y no han vuelto a limpiar desde la inauguración hace décadas. Personal amable y bien dispuesto. Organizan sillas para Esala Perahera o ayudan a encontrar sillas, pero la verdad es que merece la pena esperar a última hora finde se pueden encontrar a muchísimo mejor precio o acudir a zonas de final de recorrido donde se puede disfrutar sin agobios y gratis.

日本の古く、狭めの、場所だけはいいビジネスホテルをイメージすればぴったりではないのでしょうか。他のホテル同様、歯ブラシなし、タオルはバスタオルのみですが、冷蔵庫、金庫はあります(スリランカは同じ価格帯でも無いところがいくつかありました)。朝食は比較的種類が多く楽しめました。 今回の部屋だけかもしれませんが、コーヒーセットの周りに小さな虫が歩き回っていました。日本だと苦情を言うところですが、ここはスリランカ。虫がいない方が不思議なので気にせずワンプッシュの蚊取りスプレーで一発で退治しました。南国旅行にこのスプレーは必需品ですね。
