It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. We had a wonderful stay at the Kandy House. Its location outside the central area allowed us to have a tranquil and restful break from the hustle of the city. Yet, we were still within about a 10 minute drive of the Kandy Lake area. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was particularly roomy. The onsite restaurant was delicious and offered a range of choices for the set menu. The property itself was gorgeous and impeccably maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!
