There were shops nearby. Quite firtunate as we didn't have any water in the fridge on arrival and had to buy a 2 litre bottle for 3 of us. No easy feat up 5 flights of narrow spiral staircase. The room itself was presented well but we quickly found the curtains were broken, the AC wasnt working and the floor was dirty. Not visibly so but when you walked around barefoot it ended up black. The toilet seat also came off the toilet when in use. I have video evidence of all above. I think it just needs updating. We had a sneak peak at another room and the quality of furnishing was much better. The lobby furniture was well worn and you have to go downstairs to enter. There was no handrail. We made a complaint about suitability, as I had my elderly mother with me, to hotels.com who didnt assist apart from contacting the hotel, didnt inform me which caused hostility between the son who worked there and ourselves. We wanted to enquire about the breakadt options snd knocked on the door next yo the lobby but there wasnt any answer. When we saw the son again he looked at us with disdain. There was also building work going on next door which cant be helped but it was either window closed or wedged curtain up. As this was my first time in Istanbul I was distraught at the lack of care on all sides. I eont be booking with hotels.com again and wouldnt recommend this hotel if you have anyone senior with you.

Fantastic place to stay as it’s close to all the major tourist attractions. Good communication with the owners before arrival. Friendly owner who’s always willing to give advice. Room cleaned every day and fresh towels given. Will definitely stay there again when next in Istanbul. Thanks to Ahmet and his son for looking after us.
