Blair Villa South is a unique traveller’s rest with old world charm. Our room was very spacious and clean. The guesthouse is very conveniently located with a short walk to the centre of Oban and our hosts were friendly and welcoming.

Another great YHA hostel. Location was good; a 15 minute stroll to the town centre or Dunollie Museum and Castle. The facilities (common rooms, dinning hall and foyer) were well presented and tidy. The rooms/beds/linen/internal bathroom were clean, tidy, spacious, and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. The bonus of a “dry room”meant clothing could be dried when you got caught in the rain....a great idea! Overall, the hostel felt safe and welcoming. I highly recommend this hostel.

An exceptional hostel and guest house in Oban, right on the waterfront and only a few minutes walk from town.
We booked three twin rooms with en-suites and the rooms were perfect for what we needed. Excellent central heating, fantastic kitchen facilities where you can purchase breakfast items (fruit, toast, cereal, etc) for 20-30 pence, free tea and coffee making, plus a lounge room.
The wifi worked well and downstairs is a pub with good food and great drinks selection. They play live sport...

The Royal Hotel is perfectly located, very close to the station and the ferry terminal. There is a pub on the ground floor which may put people off, although I found it to be a great place for a drink, a meal or some entertainment. The pub also has free WiFi which the rooms don't. Breakfast was great - a large selection of freshly cooked items

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The room was comfortable and had everything we need for a comfortable stay. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but it was lovely. It was a very pleasant stay.

Which area of Isle Of Mull is best to stay in for beaches?
The best area on the Isle of Mull for beaches is the Ross of Mull peninsula, particularly around the villages of Fionnphort and Bunessan.
This peninsula, which forms the southwestern tip of Mull, is renowned for its stunning white-sand beaches and clear turquoise waters, reminiscent of Caribbean shores but with a distinct Scottish charm. The coastline here is rugged yet interspersed with numerous accessible bays and coves. The A849 road takes you through the main settlements, with many beach access points signposted or easily found via short walks from the road.
Families often find the area around Bunessan particularly appealing. There are several lovely beaches within easy reach, such as Uisken Beach and Ardalanish Beach, which are typically less crowded and offer plenty of space for children to play, build sandcastles, and explore rock pools. The calmer waters at some of these bays are also suitable for paddling.
Couples looking for a romantic escape will appreciate the beaches closer to Fionnphort, especially those requiring a short walk, like the secluded coves near Knockvologan. These spots offer breathtaking scenery and a sense of peaceful isolation, great for a quiet stroll or a picnic with stunning views towards Iona.
