The location of The Royal Hotel was perfect for walking around the harbor and sightseeing. The staff were very friendly and helpful, recommending great places to eat and things to see/do while we were in Oban.
The location in Oban was nice. We were able to park our car behind the hotel. The young woman who checked us in was friendly. The property unfortunately is very tired and in need of some work.
Property is in need of refurbishment. Carpets are very worn.Bedroom windows were very dirty.Bedding and towels were very clean.Staff were friendly and helpful. The only plus was it was very central.
The staff were excellent vrry helpful and friendly. The rooms and common areas were very clean if a bit tired. A bit of TLC is would be a cracking hotel in a great part of the town.

Great location, friendly helpful staff, nice breakfast. But, terribly dated and tired.
The front desk staff were lovely, as were the dining room staff.
Odd was the room with no temperature control that I could see. It was quite stuffy by morning.

Breakfast was good, staff friendly and considerate, Bedroom & Bathroom clean. Bed was not very comfortable and lacked width & length. Carpet on stairs worn along many of the step edges and fresh paint on a number of walls would improve the overall appearance. Car park supposed to have room for 12 cars. It had no clear markings, tarmac & concrete in a poor state and its shape made it extremely difficult to safely manouevre a larger car. Management needs to address this frustrating issue. The room price per night is slightly more expensive than the overall quality of the hotel deserves. With a bit more thought and better maintainance, this historic hotel could match its higher quality, local rivals.
Very clean rooms, food good and near shops also friendly staff

I had a lovely stay at The Royal Hotel Oban the first room was a bit tired but look past that and appreciate how clean it was bed towel tip top. The second room was very clean also bathroom had been upgraded very nice. Staff were all very helpful but the creme del a creme breakfast a lovely selection of very well prepared food if anyone finds fault could you ask them what they have at home
Really cool old hotel. Don’t expect a Marriott, this is a genuine old Scottish hotel with tons of character and charm. The staff were excellent, providing good local advice and a great breakfast. Everything is in walking distance.
Pretty good location right at one end of town with tons of shops and restaurants, easy walk to the waterfront. The hotel is a little run down but has character that I found sort of charming. The room was basic but clean and comfortable with everything you needed. For a budget stay this was a good choice overall. We were disappointed with parking, although it is clearly described in the post that parking is limited, so we knew it could be an issue going in. Their lot is small and chaotic around the corner from the hotel -spaces aren’t really marked and it was full when we got there. The staff did direct us to a paid lot down the street, but we ended up finding a spot on the street and were able to top up the meter frequently enough to make that work. If you want guaranteed parking stay elsewhere (again, all described in their listing).

Breakfast was good, and the staff were extremely helpful. The hotel does look very dated though, and the carpets were very worn especially noticeable on the stairs. The room was clean and the hotel is in good location
