An imperial citadel, a misty river and a modern heart combine to give the city centre of Hue a unique look and feel.

With most of its heritage erased by wars, Hue now focuses on providing 21st-century comforts to intrepid travellers. The area straddles the Perfume River (Huong Giang), with the royal complex to the north and the modern centre to the south.
