"This was the ABSOLUTE WORST HOTEL/RESORT EVER!!!! Bait and switch!!! The property is completely run down, the room was awful, they had a 24 inch computer monitor as a tv (that didn’t work)!!! The net for the mosquitos was dirty. Let’s get to the bathroom, the tiles were worn, cracked!!! The water was cold( was told the hot water WAS on, but was not!!!) The water fixtures came apart!!! The towel were still looking dirty!!! Then there was a huge trail of ants (small ants) by the door...

"Imperial Express offers comfort in the heart of the CBD with numerous places to eat close by.It is affordable with a high end feel.I will definitely stay at the hotel again during my next visit to Kisumu.However, investing in sound proof windows might come in handy due to the hustle and bustle of the central business district."

"Annoda's Homes is a quiet getaway in Milimani, Kisumu. The host was efficient and pleasant. Breakfast was full of creative surprises once she realized my appetite for healthy variety. This family property is well managed and full of pleasant spaces within the yard for small meetings and just quiet time. It is a place I would certainly return to."

"After making a reservation as per, usual as a couple with a teenage daughter, when we arrived, we were told that in order to get the suppossed free rollaway bed as is usually shown in the reservation description, this time it would cost 2k more to get the bed or the three people could just share one bed. The manager refused to speak with my husband and I personally so we had to leave and come back later. Finally, they agreed to include the bed at no extra cost and the manager did end up offering a half hearted explanation over the phone (although he never presented himself in person and that was very impolite). In the end the experience was very uncomfortable due to the checking in ordeal/ rollaway bed but I do appreciate the fact that they opted to do the right thing minus any extra charges. This experience left a poor impression and I am not certain I would stay here again if they will not honor our request for a rollaway bed, as promoted, at no extra cost. Restaurant food was good and so was the restaurant staff. "

"The food is amazing. The entire staff is extremely professional, especially everyone in the restaurant. The hotel has a very unique design. The hallways and various sitting areas throughout the hotel look very homely (in a good way). From the pool area, to the huge bar lounge, etc, there are many soft chairs and couches to relax. The 1st room we stayer in very outdated and needs renovations. However, the next day we were put in a different room and it was much nicer. The beds are large and comfortable. The TVs do not have Apps on them, so no Netflix, etc and not able to screen share from your phone. So, when making a booking here, I would suggest that you call and specifically request for the most updated room, with a closed or partially closed shower. Unless you dont mind the bath tub that you can also stand in to shower, but no door. Overall, I would definitely return and recommend it to others."

Now let’s talk about the bedding, we had to definitely check to make sure that there were NO BED BUGS IN THE BED. The sheets looked worn like they have been used for years!! The duvet covers were worn as well. We got to the hotel late that night (about 9 pm) so it was too late to really bail out the same night!!! I started IMMEDIATELY LOOKING FOR ANOTHER HOTEL (Fsirways). The hotel staff has refused to refund me for the remaining 2 nights (I initially booked for 3) so at this point I WILL CONTACT MASTERCARD AND HAVE THEM REFUSE ALL NIGHTS!!!! You played with the WRONG person!!! I don’t tolerate poor quality or poor customer service AT ALL IN CLOSING, don’t EVER, EVER EVER EVER EVER STAY HERE!!!! "

"Each suite is owned or hosted by a different individual, but all are part of the Ikonia franchise with a manager. The quality of each suite varies significantly and depends on what the host or owner chooses to offer. Some suites have minimal kitchen appliances, while others feature old, torn bed sheets and pillowcases, rock-hard pillows, outdated non-slip-resistant floor mats, and microwaves lacking microwave-safe containers. The food from the restaurant is of poor quality, and even the staff admit that guests typically do not eat there. For properties with more than four floors, there is no elevator; however, safe parking for only four cars total is available. The staff are friendly and say the right words, but lack the resources to offer great service, as they depend on what the host provides. Overall, it is a two-star establishment pretending to be three stars. The location is ideal, just a few minutes' drive from the city center and other attractions. If you are not particular about high quality, it is worth a try."
