"Wonderful relaxing experience "

"My room was on floor 2 towards the back of the hotel. The Gym was on floor 1 at the front of the hotel yet the music from the Gym and work out classes was so loud I couldn’t concentrate on work and had to have the TV on max volume. Then there was the loud banging at the same time, coming from an open door or window. Gym music and loud banging stopped at 10pm. The room had a glass door to the en-suite, so you had full view of the person sitting on the toilet and everything else private people do in bathrooms. The rainfall shower squirted water everywhere other than straight down. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in the last 10 years. The carpets had many stains on it, making the room feel dirty if you walked around in bare feet. Bedside lamps each side were plugged into the only power socket by the bed. So you had to make a choice of light or your electronics. For the prices they charge you’d expect a much higher standard of room. £118 for one night in a small double room. Plus you have to pay for parking. It was like a continental cheap motorway motel worth maybe £40 per night at best. I assume you pay this over the top rate due to the Gym and having a Starbucks on site. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Go down the road to the Double Tree by Hilton and not only save yourself £30 or so, but you get a better room. Cleaner, more spacious, sockets everywhere round the room, better spacious desk to work, shower that works. free parking for Blue Badge holders."

"Check in proved difficult as I hadn't been sent a room number or check in code and didn't realise I was supposed to request this 24 hours prior according to special instructions. Luckily a cleaner was there and sorted me out. The room itself was very clean except for under the bed. No towels or soap. Someone knocked on my door at 10:20am asking if I was checking out that day. I said yes and he said check out was 10am. I said no checkout is 11am and he checked his phone and left me be."

"Urine stained duvet on bed. Clean cover on it instead of removing it. Superior room but adjoining door to next room, could hear absolutely everything going on in that room. It felt like our room was the children’s room of the adjoining bedroom.door needs some sort of soundproofing. Twin beds very small for adults. Seemed a very noisy area of hotel.doors very loud upon closing. Staff very helpful when asked to change rooms, unfortunately no room available until second night of our stay. Breakfast good with good choices but second morning not so hot. I had stayed in this hotel in October with a friend and was very impressed with it but this trip with my son for my 60th birthday wasn’t so good, sadly we left feeling dissatisfied and disappointed. Although the member of staff did what he could to help, if a room is not available what can he do other than give us a £50 discount. "

"Hotel is lovely with a great setting on the river, staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was first class, as was the Evening meal, did feel that the tables in the restaurant were a bit dated so a cloth to cover the table would have made it look so much nicer, I appreciate that the building is very old and had I known how noisy it was going to be I would have asked for an upstairs room, you could hear every step because the floorboards were very creaky and none of room doors had a soft close mechanism so there was constant door banging, it would also have been helpful if all guests could be reminded to be considerate by keeping the noise down when returning to there rooms late at night on the information sheet in the room. Having said all that it is a beautiful place in a great location and I will definitely be returning in a few months. Thank you "
