"Let’s start with the room service. We had to ask for towels at least 4 times during our 1 week stay. Towels were old, raggedy and literally falling apart. They didn’t stock our mini feodge daily and our amenities were never restocked (aside from the shampoo and body wash). Anytime we had a question we had to go to the client service center and they tried to sell us a timeshare EVERY TIME. In order or have dinner at one of the restaurants, other than the buffet, you had to make reservations at most 72 hours in advance, in person at the service center. You couldn’t just call or make them for the entire stay (which in our case was only 1 week). Food and drinks were mostly bad. I got food poisoning the 2nd night there. So did 2 other people in my party. The pharmacy at the resort charged 9 times more than the normal cost for medication. The same meds I bought in the resort for $500 mxps I bought for $60 mxps outside the resort. All pools closed at 8 pm and the towel and activities center closed 6pm. We witnessed a lot of clients complaining, on a daily basis, for the same and other reasons. During our stay, there was a child accident at the children’s pool that did not have a life guard on duty and staff escalated the situation by fighting with one of the child’s family members. Further there was not first aid administered by the resort. Two tourists rendered aid to the child. On a positive note, most of the staff and servers were friendly and polite. "

"Nice property and friendly staff some meals were a hit while others not so much but overall food was tasty. View was very nice from 11th floor would travel to this resort again. "

"Hotel was well maintained with friendly and helpful staff. The pool and entertainment team- Isreal, Roxy, and Sebastian were fantastic. Fun daily activities and nightly entertainment. Room had perfect view of the Gulf. Our biggest complaint was overall food quality and selection. Breakfast was buffet and some of the food did not look fresh. Had to request bacon- but they are happy to get it for you. The other restaurants- one did not sound good to us and then Don Gus had good appetizers and lime soup, but the entrees were just ok. Nothing to get excited about. Our meal at Marco Polo was good. The pizza counter by the pool was delicious! Wish there was a larger selection of food options overall. For a return visit- We would like more from the food and found we prefer adults only, but great small resort and perfect for families. They have a very loyal following. Would recommend overall. "

"We stayed in extra upgraded juccuzzi tub on our balcony. The beverages, beers, and waters were not refilled at all during our stayed. Whether we’d requested via phone/in person in lobby. Why won’t they automatically refill while doing their housekeeping since we’d cut the light green/on??? It’s an all inclusive resort package. Everything else was 5 stars including food, drinks and servers in restaurants. "

"I had such a wonderful solo getaway at Riu Palace Las Americas. It’s such a fun place whether you want to chill by the pool or relax on the beach. The buffet was super tasty, and as a dairy-free pescatarian, I felt like I had plenty of options, which I really appreciated. The staff was also incredibly kind. Since I was staying by myself, I felt very safe — the staff even called my room every night to make sure everything was okay. That meant a lot. It was truly the perfect low-budget getaway with a high relaxation payoff. I especially loved spending my days at the beach, and Isai provided the best service — he was running around in the heat and always there when I needed a piña colada! The only thing I’ll mention is that guests wake up early to reserve beach chairs with towels. I was fine since I was by myself and got to the beach around 8 AM, but if you’re coming with others and want a prime beach spot, they can be harder to get. There were a few towel-reserved spots next to me where people didn’t show up until noon (and I was there at 7/8). I understand there’s not much the staff can do about that, but it was a little surprising to see. Other than that, there were no hiccups at all — it was a great stay.
