"I am nearly 70 years old, I find it hard to say it out loud, I have been travelling for 50 years, I have visited maybe 80 different countries and stayed in hundreds of hotels. This is , quite simply, one of the best of them all. Can I try to explain why ? On arrival it is so unassuming; a small entrance from a busy street in the middle of the ancient Medina. A single sign, it would be easy to miss, but inside, it is like Doctor Who’s Tardis: only about 10 bedrooms arranged over four levels; each built around a central courtyard with tables, sunbeds and so on It is immaculately clean and artistically decorated The top floor is quiet, peaceful with a great view over the city. A perfect place to spend two hours with a book on sunny afternoon The breakfast is one of the beds, not just as the food is so imaginative, but because of the friendly service, and the stunning location We LOVED our bedroom: a large comfortable bed, high quality cotton (or was kt line ?) sheets and pillows, spotlessly clean, an architecturally stunning bathroom, tea, coffee, air con. We had it all, a little oasis among the hustle and bustle of the Medina Top of the pops though come the staff at the hotel and that means everyone: a fine team,. Everybody friendly, everybody knowing their jobs. Nothing was too much to ask. They really made this feel like home Finally, here is to tip. The hotel does not have a permanent restaurant but Expedia's limit on characters won't let me tell you anymore "

"We stayed in the Riad Perle D’eau for two nights and loved it so much that we booked four more. Firstly, if you have never strayed in a riad then DO IT. They are like Doctor Who’s Tardis., A small unassuming entrance and then boom, inside an oasis of beauty. Only a handful of rooms , built around a central core with lots of nooks and crannies just waiting to be discovered What a beautiful location. As I pen this I am sitting in the upper terrace, watching the sun rise over the ocean and listening to the sea crashing on the rocks below What great staff , the wonderful Ishmael with his welcoming smile and helpful thoughts, the marvellous Cabrera who organised for us a Hamman something or other and then a transcendental massage. I didn’t learn the name of everybody and feel guilty for that but without exception, everybody was so welcoming and, when far from home, that made out little hotel feel like home Did I forget to mention the breakfast, with so many things to choose from and such as selection of fine nibbles We were lucky enough to stay in a suite overlooking the ocean and sipped a white wine while listening to Adele singing about when she was young and watching the people frolic on the beach below For me an easy ten out of ten "

"A superb Villa, large, we equipped, enough space for the 14 of us (including a 3Month old baby). Pascale was an absolute star as a host, helped with all aspects of our stay. From transfers to arranging the masseuse. The staff were amazing, Miriam and Amina gave us some delicious traditional meals ( as well as something a little more familiar for the kids). The housekeeper and the guys looking after the villa were all very friendly and helpful, from the time we arrived all the way through to our early morning departure. Nothing negative from us, 5 Star, all the way."

"Great facility in Essaouira with private beach access across the street. Very courteous staff and beautiful pool area. Breakfast is delicious. Probably the best place to stay in the area. Would definitely return."

"Fabulous boutique hotel. The breakfast was great-service excellent. The superior king suite was comfortable and quiet. Love the view and the pool which was heated. "

"The hotel was not good. The towels were shockingly old, the pillows REALLY old and the rooms uncomfortable. The whole stay was uncomfortable and shockingly bad for the price they were charging. The service was incredible. Mohammed was amazing. But I feel the owners of Villa Daba whom we never saw must be overcharging and letting the hotel go into disarray. The conditions of the room were shockingly old. I've never in my life seen pillows like this, or towels this old. If you're charging this much and insisting on cash payment, you must provide items not from decades ago. Also, it's not Essaouira. It's deceiving. Everywhere it says Villa Daba Essaouira. But it's 15 min from Essaouira. There is nothing close. Nothing. And the villa only offers a breakfast and that's it. The rooms are really hot and became insufferable at night, you can't open windows, no screens and lots of bugs. Tourist trap. We got a really bad rash from the pool and shower gel. Avoid."
