Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Medellin could be no sweat at all or it could go on forever. We've put together some handy tips that will help you start your next big adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• First and foremost, pack your passport, travel docs, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling novel and a tablet filled with your favourite movies are some wonderful options. If you hope to catch a few z's, a quality neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. • Make sure you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in one of the zippers of your hand luggage. Other prohibited items include explosive or flammable goods, such as fuel and matches, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
