• First things first. Your boarding pass and travel ID will need to be presented to airport security personnel. Have them close by to avoid fumbling around for them.
• Time to strip down. Well kind of. Your belt, coat, keys and other small items, like your earphones, will be required to go through the X-ray machine. Make the whole process easier by removing them before your turn.
• Your electronic gadgets like phones and laptops will also have to go through the machine to be scanned. Don't worry though, you'll be back online before you know it.
• Any liquids or gels, such as toothpaste or perfume, that you want to bring on board must be no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres). Also, they all must fit inside a quart-size (one litre), clear zip-close bag.
• It's also possible you'll be asked to take your shoes off for scanning, so wearing slip-on sneakers is always a clever idea.
