"The room was clean but very small (which I knew when I booked it). The location near the water and train station were important to me. The price was reasonable given the high costs in Amsterdam. Check-in was slow and the reception area was not organized or staffed adequately. Check-out was easy since I did it online. I wanted to use the luggage lockers but received different information on cost and space from two different receptionists. Ended up not using them as a result."

"This was a short walk to and from the central train station, so was easy to get in and out of. I wouldn't bring large luggage, though, because the cobblestone streets are hard to maneuver with wheeler bags. I loved the location and could walk around the city freely. It's a short hop to canal tours, the red light district, and a lot of restaurants! You are about 1 mile (1.6 km) from the big art museums or the casino, so that's a bit further. But, there are plenty of shops to stop at along the way or you can enjoy a walk along the numerous canals. The only gripe about my stay is that my room was on the ground level right next to the main strip, so there was noise from outside until about 1 am. And, then a huge delivery truck stopped right outside my window at 7am. If you aren't on the ground floor, you'll probably really appreciate this hotel and the location."

"There is a roof top bar on level 12. We stayed on level 8. The music was so loud it shook the room. They said they always have a Sunday night Party! We wanted good sleep for an international flight the next Morning. That didn't happen. The staff comped our breakfast which we DID NOT order!"

The location is perfect to enjoy the best of Amsterdam, but still have a feeling of relaxation and peace, coupled with the incredible hotel amenities, friendly staff and incredible views - we highly recommend you consider Hotel Jakarta for your stay in Amsterdam. We genuinely are sad we had to go home!!"

"The location is excellent, and despite it being in the busiest part of the city, you couldn't really hear it from inside the room. Room was comfortable enough, though I'd say the room was reasonably basic. Room was clean, and the linens were of good quality. Staff were super friendly and helpful."

"Wonderful historical building and a national landmark. Great option for history and architectural enthusiasts. The public areas are dramatic and stunning and would be impossible to replicate today. Staff were great and very helpful. Nice breakfast buffet with many choices and great eggs to order like Eggs Benedict or Florentine. As a former office building, the layout and rooms are quirky. Definitely request a room in the main building. The hotel rooms are spread out over several old buildings and we had one that was the absolute farthest from the entrance. To get to it was a maze of corridors, stairs and then an elevator. The room itself was great with views over the back canal, but it sure was a trek. Hotel is convenient and a short walk to the central station and old city center. There are more central hotels if you want everything right outside your doorstep."

"This hotel was nice. We did not take advantage of the restaurant as they wanted €25 euros for breakfast but we walked to a coffee shop and grocery store about 10 minutes away. If I'm being honest, the thing that made this hotel stay so special was our room. We paid and additional €50 euros per night and ended up with a room with it's own big round jacuzzi tub BUT the room also had it's own sauna. Great two night visit."
