We had a fabulous one night stay. ALL the staff we encountered were so warm and friendly. The grounds were beautiful, and we had such a lovely walk through the woods to the beach after eating an amazing hearty breakfast at the hotel. Our room was very cosy and roomy. Would highly recommend, and will be back again.

Short Break
We chose the hotel purely on it's location.We could not understand why the hotel had curtains drawn in all corridors,therefore requiring the lights to be left on.(Not eco friendly).Breakfast was good and the staff helpful. There was a smell of mould in the corridors.Overall liked the location,but won't be returning

Nice hotel.
Delightfully situated hotel. Gardens and easy stroll down to beach and coastal path. Room nicely furnished and reasonable size. Modern bathroom. Comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Reception and breakfast staff friendly and proactive. Only slight downside was car parking - barely sufficient space for all the guests to park - every evening we played 'hunt the space'. But overall a most enjoyable stay.

A little slice of paradise
A wonderful stay with very friendly and helpful staff. However like so many businesses, recruitment is a bit of an issue so at times it took a little longer for service. Would we go back? Absolutely 👍

We booked to stay here for Monday to Friday, but with the change in weather to give us glorious sunshine on our final day we booked another night. The staff arranged to move all our bags to the new rooms for us, and the whole stay was just relaxed and easy. The beds were so comfortable, we all slept brilliantly. The property is looking a little bit tired in places but this didn’t detract from our stay. There could be more that the hotel could do - the place has been modernised with crisp white bathrooms, but there was no shaver socket in there (you have to ask for a shaver plug), and there is no little light - so you either have the main light on or nothing which isn’t ideal in the middle of the night. The breakfast choices were great, but the indoor terrace where it is served became super hot when the sun caught it, the staff informed us that they were not allowed to close the venetian blinds though, but they did slide open the fire exit for us. There was no air conditioning in the rooms we stayed in so you either have the windows/sliding doors open or not - which isn’t ideal when the balcony the doors open out on to can be accessed from the grounds. Not that I think anything untoward would happen there, it does seem very safe indeed. Parking was easy, but only when there were enough spaces. Without doubt the location was the most amazing feature - just a short stroll to a small beach that very few people go to was excellent. Will we stay again? Absolutely yes.

Wonderful place to stay and relax.
We returned to this hotel as we love the quiet location and beautiful subtropical gardens. The walk down to the secluded beach through the gardens is a real treat. The service is wonderful, the food is excellent and all in all it’s a fabulous place to stay and relax.

Great staff, from arriving to leaving, very helpful, amazing breakfast and great service in Restaurant, I think one of the waiters/servers was Andy, great guy. Very comfortable beds. The gardens are brilliant, great to sut outside with a glass of wine.

Early My weekend stay
Beautiful setting for a hotel, the gardens are just stunning. The bedroom and facilities were superb, very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. The balcony and view at sunrise was great. The hotel was very welcoming, especially at breakfast in the restaurant, in the sunshine over looking the gardens. The food and service was equally perfect.

The rooms could do with more sound proofing. You could hear doors closing and showers running in other rooms. We also found the restaurant quite expensive.

Mixed feelings...
Beautiful location & ideal as we wanted to walk the coast path. Sadly we will not return as too many niggles :( Problems with check in, dinner reservation confusion & check out, the latter being we were overcharged by over £100, although eventually sorted. Food was beautifully presented, staff very pleasant, but for a fine dining experience and re the cost, we felt the restaurant needed some tlc re décor & cleanliness. We both had fish pie which was served with more potatoes & a little bit of spring greens; a bit of a cheap shot. Ate out after that. However, lovely views down the garden at breakfast time & a good menu choice/ buffet to start the day. Bed extremely comfortable & fab' shower, but our wet room was constantly that & with no underfloor heating trips to the loo meant wet feet! If towels were left on the towel rail they got soaked too. This could be an amazing hotel, but we just had the feeling that perhaps staffing was an issue as they all seemed to contradict each other with info' and no one appeared to be taking complete charge? Other guests that we got talking to seemed to have the same opinion. We were disappointed overall with our experience, but hopefully we just caught them at on off time.

Surpassed our expectations
A comprehensive check in process where we were told about all the hotel facilities. The room was comfortable and the bathroom more than adequate. The best parts of our stay were the warm welcome offered to our dog ( really dog friendly) the wonderful gardens and direct access to the beach, SW Coastal Path and a really good breakfast.

Lovely hotel and grounds. Food was very good but you can’t be in a hurry if you dine here. Food freshly cooked which obviously takes time. Two hours for the three courses. Lovely private beach, reached by a walk through beautiful gardens

Surprise menu.... at a lovely venue
Staff were great cant fault them, very friendly. Lovely Venue. The service for dinner was bit slow. Not happy with the Dinner menu as we phoned ahead several times to ask for clarity on the menu as it changes daily, needed to be sure that there would be a decent Meat option. They could not tell us the menu until 6.30pm and our table was booked for 8pm. Sadly as feared we had to opt for the light bites / bar food menu as only a duck and several fish options were available, such a shame. Had hoped a chicken, Lamb Beef of Pork option would be available. Like I said great staff and very nice venue, but Limited Menu and communication of said menu was a struggle...

Our chef team use fresh locally sourced produce which means our menus are not released till 5pm each day, we cook our local fisherman's catch of the day , which we can't write a shopping list for, it comes straight from his nets to our kitchen. We always have a meat option on our menu and this varies depending on the season and the best produce available. We are sorry that our meat choice on the evening you dined was not your preferred option, we do regularly have lamb, venison , beef and pork on the menu. Excellent stay. The staff couldn't do enough for us and the gardens the private beach were really enjoyable. We have an EV and the hotel provides free charging, which is brilliant. We'll certainly be returning and have recommended it to family/friends already.

Meudon is beautiful.
Meudon is a marvellous hotel: comfortable, good design, good service, peaceful, great food, relaxing, beautiful gardens. As I am a native of Cornwall (living in London) and my family lived in Mawnan Smith until 2022 there is natural concern from local people about expansion by hotel groups and property developers with new buildings spoiling the beautiful coastline evidenced by truly dreadful new housing at Swanpool Beach. Why wouldn’t there be justified concern. But we were reassured that this would not be happening with Meudon, despite two planning applications turned down, who would not want to harm the beauty of what they have around them. Let’s hope this is true and the hotel just gets better and better, We were very impressed by the friendly and reassuring staff and with pretty much everything at Meudon Hotel which matters so much as it is an area that has great personal significance to me. It’s brilliant. We look forward to returning soon.

Outstanding hotel. Food excellent, staff excellent. Garden room with terrace was superb with a fantastic shower. As for the location and gardens I don’t think I could come up with enough superlatives.

It could have been a really special place to stay
We enjoyed our stay but were disappointed with the blandness of the bedroom furnishing. It could have been any chain hotel and sadly lacked any touches which I had hoped for to make it a special place to stay. However the staff were all lovely, the food nice but no red meat for a main course, the gardens lovely and so nice to have a pretty beach to swim off at the bottom of the grounds.
