"The property was in pleasant grounds, in an attractive village. There are a number of b and b rooms in the barn which is now an annex to the main house. The room had a high ceiling so was airy and spacious. The ensuite shower room was too. The bed could be a double or two singles so was large size and we found to be comfortable. "Absolute sweatbox of a room and a very small window to try and get some cool air in as the air con was just inept, also very dark room so had to have the lights on which didn't help the temperature of the room. Tried to have a cool bath but no plug for the bath could be found so then tried to have a cool shower but kept getting blasts of hot water on me so gave up on that. Went out for the evening and when we came back to the room it was slightly cooler as we'd left the window open so we were able to get some sleep. The breakfast buffet was very nice and about the only highlight of our stay. If we were to visit Chester again we wouldn't be stopping here again as its a 20 minute walk to the centre and for £180 for the night I'd want a better room that something resembled a loft conversion."

"A lot of money for the standards. Broken glass near the outside seating areas clearly left from the night before. The hotel is dated and could do with being modernised. The full English breakfast was awful - undercooked, fatty and tasteless bacon, poor quality sausages, cold toast, no mushrooms was just unappealing."

"This was, unfortunately, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I rarely leave negative reviews, but my stay was so disappointing that I felt compelled to share my experience. This was my first visit to Liverpool for an event, and I would like to start by recognising Richard at the front desk on Friday, 22 May 2026. He was extremely helpful in guiding me to the hotel car park and made me feel welcome and at ease after a long journey. The front desk team, particularly Richard and the night shift manager, were the only positive aspects of my stay. The biggest issue was the breakfast service and the attitude of the kitchen staff. During check-in, I was informed that breakfast was served from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with hot food available from 6:00 a.m. On Saturday, 23 May, I went for breakfast at approximately 8:30 a.m. and asked a member of staff whether I needed to be checked in before entering the breakfast area. Her response was cold and dismissive, with no eye contact, smile, or attempt to be welcoming. She directed me to another colleague, who displayed a similarly unfriendly attitude. When I reached the buffet area, many of the hot food trays were empty. There were no scrambled eggs, mushrooms, croissants, or beans available. I informed a member of staff, who said she would check with the kitchen. However, there was no sense of urgency or concern, despite breakfast service still having an hour and a half remaining. I waited approximately 15 minutes before some."

"Stay at Doubletree in Chester was very good. The room was very clean, bed was super comfy and it was very modern. The hotel décor, spa facilities, restaurant and bar area including the outside area and patio was well maintained. One particular Receptionist had no clue how to do her job whatsoever. The other Receptionist not too sure of her name, a younger girl was very pleasant and clearly knew how to do her job well. Two things needed to be improved, we tried to check in our room just after 3pm and it wasn't ready. We decided to go and have a drink on the patio as it was a very hot day, the clueless Receptionist wasn't very apologetic at this and tried to make out we were wrong, when in fact we were right that we could check in at 3pm as stated on the app!! It was extremely busy as we stayed over a Bank Holiday and clearly, the staff were not prepared for the amount of people who were staying, breakfast was very busy, tables weren't laid out, no clean cutlery on there or mug available, I had to ask a waitress fornsome for me and my husband. The breakfast was good quality and even better included in the price. The location of the hotel is ideal and central if wanting to explore Chester. Would certainly recommend and the welcome cookie was a nice added extra."
