About this property
River-Twine
River-Twine – Character Cottage with Countryside Charm & City Connections
Welcome to River-Twine, a beautifully furnished stone-built cottage that blends period charm with quirky modern touches. Ideal for couples, families or professionals, it’s perfectly located for exploring Durham and the surrounding countryside.
The spacious main bedroom features a king-size bed and wall-mounted TV. The living room offers a cosy ‘real-feel’ fireplace, discreet TV, and space to dine or play the board and card games provided. The kitchen is well equipped with a breakfast bar, and the sun-trap backyard has outdoor seating for al fresco meals.
With excellent access to the A1, A167 and A688, and plenty of parking nearby (even for larger vehicles), it’s a great base for road travellers. Alternatively, leave the car behind and hop on one of the frequent buses into Durham City – the stop is just across the road. Buses also run to Newcastle and Barnard Castle, and cyclists are welcome too, with secure fixing points in the yard.
Despite its great transport links, Croxdale has a peaceful, countryside feel. Walk straight from the back gate into open fields, explore the scenic Weardale Way, or spot otters by the old Croxdale bridge. Take a relaxing stroll through Croxdale Hall estate, or enjoy a top-rated Sunday roast at The Green Tree or a drink at one of the village’s three pubs.
And for quick eats, you’ll find McDonald's, KFC, Greggs, Burger King, and more just five minutes away by car at Thinford Roundabout.
