"What a gem!! We stayed for 4 days. Had to readjust our arrival and departure date at last minute due to typhoon Shanshan☹️. They even refunded our last day stay without asking as we had to leave a day earlier due to approaching typhoon. We arrived at midnight by train and the manager met us on site to welcome us and explain everything. Having a washer and dryer in one machine on site saved us! We would do a load of laundry every night and in the morning have clean clothes. Saved a lot of time...

"Beautiful house with great design in really great neighborhood.
For us it was okay but the stairs were very steep so keep that in mind.
The bathroom is outside so not sure how comfortable this is in the winter. But it was a nicely designed bathroom and the foot bath is a great feature after a long day of walking. "

"Great location, very nice and clean room. Reception especially helpful with all our requests and helping us arrange our luggage to be forwarded to the next hotel."

"Very clean room, considerate staff, lovely spa and lounge. The buffet breakfast at erutan was delicious and full of different options with clear markers for allergens and dietary restrictions. Got a wonderful aromatherapy massage at the spa. Loved the cocktail/charcuterie time at the lounge, was a wonderful way to end my day during my stay. The overall aesthetic of the hotel, with the lighting and the plants was beautiful. Glad I chose this hotel for my stay."
"Lovely ryokan in the middle of the insanity. Was so nice returning here at the end of the day with all the tourists around you it’s just one simple door from the street and you’re transported to the oasis of Sowaka. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Even gave us really great tips for somewhere in Osaka on our next stop. Would stay again and just stay inside enjoying the peace and quiet of the hotel. "
"My second time here, always friendly, attentive helpful staff. Great rooms, very clean, nice amenities and a nice breakfast. Will come again hopefully due to the kind staff and great location."
"The stand out about this hotel is the people. Everything with the property is excellent. But a hotel is about people. The people that care for you here are so lovely and warm that they feel more like family. You really look forward to seeing them every day and engaging them on the traditions and culture of Japan. "
THE HOTEL HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO TOKYU, A Pan Pacific Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards. The beds are very comfortable and the shower is excellent. The TV is equipped with Netflix and other streaming services and easy to use. The location is superb for exploring Gion and Higashiyama, and not far from a metro station to get to the rest of town.
The free shuttle service to and from Kyoto Station is a nice bonus.
The one negative is that the gym is quite small, with only a few free weights and a treadmill. If that matters to you, consider a guest membership at a nearby local gym or a different hotel. "
