"The room was clean, looked recently renovated. Front office staff was courteous.
The restaurant staff were the worst. Food was just average. Staff forgot to put all food items in the bag, and when I returned to tell them that I am missing items from my order, staff said they are sure that they packed everything (suggesting that I am lying), and had the audacity to ask me to bring all the boxes down to the restaurant so they can check. Bear in mind, after a long day of travel, my family had already started eating as the kids were hungry. During that discussion, one of the staff checked in the kitchen and behold, the missing box was still in the kitchen. Of course they apologized for the error, and I was not mad that they missed packing all items, it happens. They suggested that I was lying, when they didn't do the basic courtesy to first check themselves, and accused me of lying. So yeah, let this instance be known for others to be aware of."
"Staff and location was excellent! Bathroom was smallish but very clean! Moxies was good food but a little slow; we weren’t in a hurry so wasn’t a big deal. Ease for shuttle pick-up to Banff and nice to have rail line right outside to get around town. Would stay again."
"Very outdated property. Had to walk to a different building to get to our rooms. No elevators just stairs, which if you are bringing suitcases like I was, it made my stay difficult lugging them up and down the stairs."
"Hotel allows dogs but they have nothing for the dogs like a place to go to the bathroom and there is no easy way to get to the underground parking except with the elevators"
"Very cool place with a nice vibe and excellent location with a Save-on Foods across the street for food and snacks, and lots of restaurants. Staff are very cool,, friendly and helpful as is true for all Alt hotels. Easy to get onto the freeway to go anywhere."
"I had a very unpleasant experience during check-in at Best Western Plus Suites Downtown.
When I arrived, there were other guests checking in ahead of me. I noticed the front desk staff speaking with them normally, and after their check-in was completed, each of them was given a bottle of water. I do not know whether the water was complimentary or not, but it was clearly being offered to guests during check-in.
However, when it was my turn, the only thing I was asked for was my ID. There was no greeting, no explanation, and no communication beyond handing me the room key. I then had to ask why I was not given water like the other guests. Without saying anything, the staff member went to the back, brought out one bottle of water, and simply placed it on the counter without any explanation or apology.
This made me feel very uncomfortable and offended. I could not help but wonder whether they assumed I could not speak English, whether they were treating guests differently depending on who they were, or whether this was some form of discrimination. It left me with a very unpleasant impression.
I have used Best Western quite often in the past, but this was the first time I felt this bad after checking into one of their hotels. Unless there are no other hotel options available, I do not think I would choose this property again."
