"I had a very unpleasant experience during check-in at Best Western Plus Suites Downtown. When I arrived, there were other guests checking in ahead of me. I noticed the front desk staff speaking with them normally, and after their check-in was completed, each of them was given a bottle of water. I do not know whether the water was complimentary or not, but it was clearly being offered to guests during check-in. However, when it was my turn, the only thing I was asked for was my ID. There was no greeting, no explanation, and no communication beyond handing me the room key. I then had to ask why I was not given water like the other guests. Without saying anything, the staff member went to the back, brought out one bottle of water, and simply placed it on the counter without any explanation or apology. This made me feel very uncomfortable and offended. I could not help but wonder whether they assumed I could not speak English, whether they were treating guests differently depending on who they were, or whether this was some form of discrimination. It left me with a very unpleasant impression. I have used Best Western quite often in the past, but this was the first time I felt this bad after checking into one of their hotels. Unless there are no other hotel options available, I do not think I would choose this property again."

"I spent two nights at the Sandman Signature Calgary Downtown and had a great experience. The staff for uniformly, helpful and cheerful, the bed was very comfortable, and room service was excellent. The only downside is that instead of leaving room service dishes on a tray outside the door to be picked up, hotel guests are asked to walk their dishes a short distance down the hall and deposit them on a table."

"This Casino Hotel was quiet and very well appointed. We were upgraded for free to a lovely , large suite with lots of room and a fireplace, facing the mountain range. The staff made a lovely effort to make sure we had all we needed. We enjoyed eating at the Bar inside the casino."
