If it's your first time travelling during COVID-19  you'll notice a raft of new regulations and rules in place. Take note of these tips and make your trip to Coronado Island go off without a hitch:

• Investigate what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your destination and origin. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so don't forget to check in advance.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, even at screening checkpoints. Be ready to adjust your mask for identification purposes when asked.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Instead, place your pass on the reader and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for scanning.
• Empty everything from your pocket, like your wallet, phone and small change, and put them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will minimize handling during screening.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.

As lockdowns start to lift, many airlines are back in action with new strategies including social distancing and an increased supply of sanitizer and face masks. Here's what different carriers are doing to reduce the spread of COVID-19:

• Alaska Airlines - this airline is known for providing passenger masks and cleaning with disinfectant.
• United Airlines - this airline is known for providing passenger masks and cleaning with disinfectant.
