  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

We were in Columbus for a friends getaway weekend. We loved everything about our stay. The host has thought of everything to make it comfy and relaxing. The hot tub was a nice treat. Short North is a short walk so lots of good restaurants and shops too.

Beautiful home for our extended family gathering

We thoroughly enjoyed this home and had plenty of space for our extended family gathering. Great location, huge hot tub, perfect dining room table for meals and games, stunning kitchen. Highly recommend!!!!

Warm, charming and covenient

House was just as advertised in the description and pictures from the listing. Sydney was a pleasure to deal with before during and after our stay. The parking in back was quite helpful and the location near CVS and Luckys market was fantastic. We would stay here again.

Communication with the host was prompt and easy. Issues related to forecast early winter weather were handled promptly and completely. High end Kitchen appliances and thoughtful extra details throughout the property made the stay very comfortable.Beds and bedding were very comfortable.The off-street parking was convenient and easy.We would certainly check availability the next time we need a VRBO in Columbus.

This house was perfect for our large family gathering exploring Columbus together. The location is perfect, with many restaurants, coffee shops, markets, etc. all within a short walk. The house is very well stocked with kitchen supplies. The hot tub was the perfect way to end our long days of walking and exploring. The game room was a huge hit with our group of kids. The house was quiet, despite being in a lively area. If you like historic homes, you will enjoy staying here!

Great Arena district large group stay!

This was one of the best houses I have ever stayed in. It has everything you could possibly need.High End everything. Coffee makers, several to choose from. Hot tub… Nice sheets and comfortable mattresses.Great location! We will go back when visiting Columbus.

Location! Location! Location! We were in Columbus for a family wedding. We had our adult children, 3 yr told and 3 month old grandkids and a couple friends staying here. This is a beautiful home in a great neighborhood! 5 minutes to downtown and 5 minutes to OH-IO. We were lucky to see the escorted team buses pass right in front of the house on the way to the stadium! It was a short walk to Lucky’s Market and CVS. We took the kids for a walk to Goodale Park just a short distance away. We all loved the house and location!

Home away from home!

What a great property! Location was iideal with a pharmacy and grocery just a couple of walking blocks away and plenty of restaurants and entertainment within a few miles. Not only is the home beautiful it is very well stocked for a large family! We were able to prepare several large meals in the fantastic kitchen and ate comfortably in the dining room. The bedding was comfortable and plenty of towels! The host couldn’t be any more welcoming and accommodating! We are looking forward to our next visit!

Beyond expectations

We stayed at 888 Neil Ave for our son’s graduation, and it exceeded every expectation. Family came in from out of town, and the home was spacious, beautifully decorated, and incredibly well maintained—perfect for gathering and celebrating such a special milestone. The location was unbeatable, just minutes from great restaurants, the Short North district, and other local attractions.The host was outstanding—friendly, responsive, and went above and beyond to accommodate an early check-in for our family, which made a huge difference. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed and had such a warm, welcoming feel. Every detail was thoughtfully done, and it truly felt like a luxurious home away from home.We made so many wonderful memories here and would absolutely stay again. Highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area!

Incredible house and gracious host

Group of seven of us in town for a long weekend. The house could not have been a more perfect location and set up. Absolutely stunning inside and the amenities were everything we could have wanted and more. The kitchen is beautifully stocked, plenty of room for everyone to spread out or eat together at the beautiful large dining room table. Super comfortable beds and lovely soft cozy linens. And the large hot tub was amazing way to warm up and relax after a chilly February day out and about in Columbus. The host was absolutely incredible in helping answer all of my questions prior to arrival and providing above and beyond customer service throughout. We could not have asked for anything more and will be back next year!

The home is beautiful! We had such a lovely stay there. The house has so much charm and character. All the amenities were wonderful. It is located in such a great area so close to many attractions. Our group of nine loved this large, older home in a beautiful area. A variety of gathering spaces, a well-appointed kitchen, along with five bedrooms, 3.5 baths and a hot tub allowed us to make ourselves at home while enjoying the area. To top it off, a responsive host made this a VRBO a place I would highly recommend.

Very Nice - Great Location

Beautiful house in a great neighborhood. Especially recommended if you are attending an event at the convention center - it is a short walk through a great neighborhood and a lovely park to the center.Nice rooms, plenty of space. Big table for meals or games. Very short walk for groceries, not much longer of a walk to restaurants and such.

First of all, Sydney was great to work with…very responsive and helpful. The house itself is stunning and comfortable. We enjoyed the patio as well as the interior gathering spaces. The home is spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. It is also thoughtfully stocked with all the essentials that make your stay easy. The home is located in a beautiful and convenient location which is a pleasant walk to OSU campus. We hated to leave but unfortunately reality called us home! We will definitely stay there whenever we return to Columbus.
