"Overall, I’d say the best part about this hotel is the location and proximity to public transportation. That’s a huge plus if you plan on traveling all over the city. Unfortunately, I don’t see myself staying here again unless the price happens to be an amazing deal. I found the staff to be rude and unhelpful. The bathroom, specifically the bathtub, was gross. Again, it wasn’t the worst place to stay but I expected better after reading everyone else’s reviews. Maybe I went on a bad week, I don’t know. "

"This property was definitely no frills. There was no fridge, microwave, phone, or TV in the room, but I think cost reflected that. The bathroom was nice, and the windows were beautiful and had a nice view of the street below. There is no elevator, but it was a fun walk up the stairs for us, and they were super helpful in carrying our bags upstairs. Perfect for our stay in NYC over the holidays (3 college girls). The area felt very safe and was very close to public transit, and there was plenty nearby to do and see in the East Village. Ray's Pizza on the corner is 24 hours which was a lifesaver on Christmas, and the front desk uncle at St. Marks was super kind and knowledgeable about the area and things to see around NYC. Great place to stay if you just need somewhere to sleep and want somewhere central to transportation."

"Smooth check in (online/ahead of time). Sufficient hotel for a short stay. My only complaint is the air system, every time the air shut off it made an incredibly loud smacking/cracking noise like a door being slammed. This was constant and woke me up every 45 minutes throughout the night. There’s no way the hotel isn’t aware of this. If that gets fixed, everything else was good! "

"We stayed for 2 nights and the elevators were not working. The first night we called down to the desk because we went to leave and couldn’t. We were in the 20th floor. They said the elevators were broken and to use the stairs. We said that is 20 flights and I have a medical condition where I cannot walk far. They just said sorry that’s all you can do. So we were stuck in the hotel all night!!!!!! We were only in NYC for 2 nights and paid a lot of money to be here!! They couldn’t have cared less. It was just an awful experience. Staff seemed unbothered. Awful awful just don’t "

"The overall experience was good. The location is excellent — close to the subway, surrounded by restaurants, and very walkable. There is a fire station nearby, so you may be awakened by sirens a few times during the night. The room was in good condition. However, the bathroom sink is very shallow and not very practical. I wish there were more counter space around the sink to place toiletries and personal items."
