2. Primo Hotel

Primo Hotel

9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (11 reviews)
"This is a lovely small hotel with wonderful staff (particularly Josepe and Stefana). At the time we were there there was also a suited gentleman who was apparently a Director who hung around in reception looking very austere and unwelcoming. Unfortunately we were not able to use the pool, which was one of the reasons we chose the hotel, and there were no streaming channels available on the television, only Italian ones. We would return for the convenience, location and excellent staff."

Hotel Riva Del Sole

Hotel Riva Del Sole

10/10 Excellent

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Colle D'Orano?
The best area to stay in Colle D'Orano is within the village itself, particularly around the central piazza.

This charming, small village is perched on a hillside and offers stunning views of the Tuscan countryside and the Tyrrhenian Sea. It's a quiet, historic area with narrow, winding streets and traditional stone buildings. The main piazza, while small, serves as the heart of the community, often hosting local events and offering a place to relax.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat, staying directly in Colle D'Orano is ideal. You'll find a selection of charming guesthouses and villas that provide an authentic Tuscan experience. The village is superb for leisurely strolls, enjoying local cuisine at the few trattorias, and simply soaking in the serene atmosphere with breathtaking sunsets. Its elevated position ensures privacy and spectacular vistas.

Families looking for a relaxed holiday might also find Colle D'Orano appealing. Many properties offer more space, often with gardens or terraces, providing a comfortable base for a longer stay.
When is the best time to go to Colle D'Orano?
While Colle D'Orano itself is a small hamlet, the best time to visit the wider region it belongs to, Tuscany, for a quality and convenient experience is during late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October).

These periods offer pleasant weather, with warm days and comfortable evenings, superb for exploring the Tuscan countryside. You'll find the vineyards are lush in spring or vibrant with harvest colours in autumn. It's also before or after the peak summer crowds, meaning you can enjoy popular attractions and restaurants without feeling overwhelmed, and often secure better accommodation rates.

For couples seeking a romantic escape, these shoulder seasons are ideal. You can enjoy scenic drives through the rolling hills, wine tastings at local vineyards, and leisurely meals al fresco without the intense heat of summer. The softer light of spring and autumn also provides a beautiful backdrop for photography.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the milder temperatures, making outdoor activities like cycling or exploring hill towns more enjoyable.
