"The staff were kind and helpful. There were extra charges for the car park although this was taken off when we complained. The whirlpool was not working. It did not feel good value for money."

"Check in was absolutely fine, polite, helpful and quick in providing our room cards, so no issues there. Upon arrival into the hotel room, I noticed the minibar was completely empty; also with no complimentary water set out. This I do expect in any establishment with three stars or higher. Into the bathroom, the ceiling extractor fan was screeching and noisy; requiring a small whack to quieten it down. The shower felt a little dangerous as it was extremely narrow with a boxed pipework near to my head making it that much more precarious. End of day one, and then into day two and the breakfast. Again, nothing wrong with the staff who were always polite and helpful. They do a wonderful job in often challenging times. Menu's were placed either on the table or presented to us, although far too little a time was offered for us to make a choice or decision of breakfast. Admittedly we could've asked for more time to choose, we were offered the full English cooked breakfast which wasn't terrible. The hash brown or pancake was though. Check out, the gentleman on the reception desk wasn't too welcoming or helpful; instead remained seated happily content with tip tapping away on his computer. Location I must say is absolutely wonderful and so close to the town centre. The hotel was overall very clean, with beautifully maintained grounds; although we didn't come for the lawns. When staying in 4 of 5 star establishments, and now being in my 50's; I do hold a certain expectations."

"The location is central. The hotel is unique with spacious rooms and fabulous bathrooms. Everything in the room was complimentary. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed the breakfast and both the chef and the waitress exceeded our expectations, in particular regarding the gluten free requirements that my daughter has. I wish we had stayed more nights. We'll go back when we return to Stratford."

"Overall, we were a bit disappointed, but since we were exhausted from our day of travel with no sleep for over 24 hours, and we were only staying one night, it served a purpose. Check-in was simple enough, but our interactions with any staff was only to pay and be handed the key. There was no real effort to make you feel welcome. Room didn’t seem to have been cleaned since the previous guests. Yes, there was fresh bed linen and towels, but the bin hadn’t been emptied and the toilet paper roll was half used with the empty roll still sitting on the toilet tank. One bath towel had brown stains on it. It’s the little things that matter. Probably the most bizarre and annoying thing was the bright green exit sign above the door (with no obvious way to turn it off). It lit up the whole room with an eerie glow all night. On the plus side, the room was relatively quiet and bed was quite comfortable. (But remember, we WERE exhausted, so we probably would have slept well on a bed of nails. All in all, it was okay for a rest stop, but I’d think long and hard before making it your base of operations for a longer visit. "

"This is one of the oldest houses in Stratford, dating back to the 15th century when it was still a single house, so Shakespeare himself would likely have passed by it. Forty years ago, when I was a student, I would never have imagined that I would one day stay here, let alone bring my whole family, including our two dogs. The cottage is quaint yet cosy, exactly as advertised. The internet was perfectly good for the limited use we needed, and the property was genuinely pet-friendly, which made a real difference for us. The location is excellent, right beside the police station and very central, with everything in Stratford-upon-Avon within easy walking distance. It was also the perfect base for us to visit the Cotswolds during the day, while being able to enjoy Stratford’s local restaurants in the evening and have a drink or two without worrying about driving. The place felt very safe as well, with the police station just next door. The car park is directly across the road and was extremely easy to use. I was slightly worried because I have a long car, but it was spacious and we always found a spot. A very special place to stay, full of character and history. I will definitely consider Sykes Holiday Cottages for future stays in the UK."
