Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Castello?
The best areas to stay in Castello are the historic village centre itself or the surrounding countryside estates.

The village centre of Castello is ideal for those who appreciate being at the heart of local life. Here, you'll find hotels and guesthouses located among ancient stone buildings, often with views overlooking the rolling Tuscan hills. The main piazza, with its modest fountain and a few local shops and trattorias, is the social hub. Staying here means you're just steps away from the Castello di Castello, a historic landmark, and can easily wander the narrow, pedestrian-friendly lanes.

Couples often enjoy the village centre for its convenience and romantic feel. You can easily stroll to dinner, enjoy a glass of local wine, and soak in the historic surroundings without needing to drive. It's a relaxed pace that allows for spontaneous exploration of the village and its immediate surroundings.

For travellers seeking more space, privacy, and perhaps a countryside experience, the estates just outside Castello offer an excellent alternative. These properties, often converted farmhouses or villas, typically feature extensive grounds, swimming pools, and sometimes even their own vineyards or olive groves. They provide a tranquil retreat from which to explore the region, usually requiring a short drive to reach the village centre.

Families often find these countryside estates particularly appealing. The larger accommodations provide ample room for everyone, and the outdoor amenities like pools and gardens offer entertainment for children. Many estates also offer cooking classes or wine-tasting experiences on-site, adding to the convenience and enjoyment of the stay.
When is the best time to go to Castello?
The best time to go to Castello, Tuscany, Italy is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October).

These months offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the Tuscan countryside, with comfortable temperatures that aren't too hot or too cold. You'll find the vineyards and olive groves at their most picturesque, either bursting with new growth in spring or rich with harvest colours in autumn.

For couples seeking a romantic getaway, spring is particularly lovely with the landscape in bloom and fewer crowds than the peak summer months. You can enjoy leisurely drives through the rolling hills, visit local wineries, and dine al fresco without the intense heat.

Families travelling with children might also find the shoulder seasons more agreeable. The milder weather makes outdoor activities like cycling or walking more comfortable, and popular attractions are less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed pace.
