Amazing accommodation set in the valley of the black spur. Very spacious rooms with everything we needed added bonus having a beautiful restaurant for dinner and breakfast just downstairs.

Even though there was reasonable number of guests staying we never felt like there were many people around. Only at breakfast was it noticable how many were actually staying. Over all quiet and peaceful and easy walking distance to Healsville centre

Very warm and homely decor with everything provided that you could want. The layout was really lovely with the 2 bedrooms in the garden apartment at opposite ends to give maximum privacy. I made a stuff up with the booking dates and management was really understanding and accommodating and fixed it all up. The room even had an unexpected breakfast hamper which was lovely and best of all real coffee with a plunger.

We used Bluegums as a base for our family adventures. Our cabin had everything we needed and was very comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful and on hand when needed. We had the park to ourselves which was lovely. Definitely be back again!

Perfect for couples wanting to get away. Perfect location and nice set up inside. Would have been better if we had more firewood but overall it was an excellent experience.

We were very happy to return to the Healesville Hotel and it is a great base from which to explore the Yarra Valley. Our room was warm, clean and comfortable - the plunger coffee and TeaToo teas were very welcome. The open fires downstairs were much appreciated as the sun set and the temperature dropped, and we loved our delicious local trout, which was the night's special, and the fine Shiraz from a nearby vineyard. Friendly staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine as well...

The cabin was in very good clean condition and the grounds were perfect for a young family offering three playgrounds, a creek and a damn/lake. We were unable to get into our cabin until 3:30pm as it was the last to be cleaned and reception staff were a bit blaze about this however the manager did agree to an 11am checkout so I felt happier about it. Only a shame that I had to ask for it; perhaps reception staff need more training on standard customer service. The recreation room was missing...

Loved the Motel and hope to come back next year to stay longer. The Motel is immaculate and very comfy, our Host was extremely professional, easy self check in, all amenities we needed were there. There are many outdoor activities, such as the Rainforest Gallery, Redwood Trees, River Walk, etc and Warburton village is very bohemian and unique to explore. Easy walk from the Motel. A welcome respite from home on the Gold Coast! Thank you!

The best area to stay in Buxton, Victoria, is the town centre itself, particularly around the Acheron Way and Maroondah Highway junction.
This area is the heart of Buxton, offering the most convenience for visitors. You'll find the general store, local eateries, and the Buxton Trout & Salmon Farm all within easy reach. It's also the primary gateway to the scenic Black Spur Drive.
For couples seeking a relaxing getaway with easy access to nature, staying close to the town centre provides a comfortable base. You can enjoy strolls along the Acheron River or easily drive to nearby attractions like the Cathedral Range State Park for walks and picnics.
Families will also find the town centre appealing due to its proximity to the Buxton Trout & Salmon Farm, which offers a fun activity for all ages.
When is the best time to go to Buxton?
The best time to visit Buxton is generally during the warmer months, specifically from late spring through early autumn (November to April).
During this period, the weather is most favourable for outdoor activities, which Buxton is renowned for. You'll find comfortable temperatures great for exploring the Cathedral Range State Park, enjoying bushwalks, or fly fishing in the Steavenson River. The longer daylight hours also allow for extended adventures and leisurely evenings.
For those keen on water activities or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the region without the chill, January and February offer the warmest conditions. This is ideal for families looking to spend time by the river or enjoy picnics in the surrounding areas.
If you're interested in the autumn colours, April and May can be particularly picturesque, with the leaves changing in the surrounding forests.
