The best areas to stay in Blaca, Split, Croatia, are the Old Town (Diocletian's Palace) for a truly historic experience or the areas just outside, like Varoš or Radunica, for a blend of convenience and local character.

The Old Town, built within the ancient walls of Diocletian's Palace, is the heart of Blaca. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a pedestrian-only zone, a maze of narrow cobbled streets, ancient courtyards, and Roman ruins. You'll find a wide selection of boutique hotels and apartments tucked away in historic buildings, offering a unique stay. The Peristyle, the central court, and the Riva promenade along the waterfront are key landmarks. Couples often adore this area for its romantic setting, with countless restaurants and cafes right on their doorstep and easy access to the harbour for island hopping.

For those who appreciate a slightly quieter stay but still want to be very close to the action, the Varoš neighbourhood is an excellent choice. Situated just west of the Old Town, Varoš is known for its traditional stone houses and winding streets leading up Marjan Hill. It's a bit more residential, offering a glimpse into local life while still being a short walk to the Riva and the Palace. This area is great for travellers who enjoy exploring on foot and want a more authentic feel.

Radunica, located just east of the Old Town, offers a similar appeal to Varoš with its historic charm and residential feel. It's known for its annual street festival and offers a good selection of guesthouses and apartments.

The best time to visit Blaca is during the spring (April to June) or early autumn (September to October).

These shoulder seasons offer pleasant weather conditions, with warm days and less intense heat than the peak summer months. You'll find the natural beauty of the area, particularly the hiking trails and the monastery, is best enjoyed without the summer crowds. This period is ideal for those who appreciate comfortable exploration and a more tranquil experience.

For travellers looking to enjoy swimming and sunbathing, the peak summer months of July and August are also suitable, though the temperatures will be higher and the area will be busier.
