"The best part about the hotel is the view from the balcony. The rooms are clean, typical hotel rooms. It was easy to park and walk around town. I would not suggest the restaurant though. The food was horrible. Other places in town had much better food."

"Lovely Manager who helped us to check in slightly earlier than normal which was very much appreciated. The villa had every kitchen item we needed for self-cooking while staying. There is also a washing machine in the Villa and a place to hang laundry in the little private courtyard. Great location in Kingscote opposite the jetty."

Excellent 3 bedroom house but with only 1 bathroom. Very clean house and near to beach. However, no view of beach from house. Owner/ manager was very friendly.

We felt the Seaside Inn offered good value for money. The room was spacious and clean and our bed was very comfortable. It was in a great location for getting around the island and visiting the fantastic attractions and beaches etc. Will stay again if we're ever fortunate enough to be back on Kangaroo Island!

The best area to stay in Birchmore is the beachfront promenade district, particularly around Marine Parade, for its direct access to the sea and convenient amenities.
This area is the heart of Birchmore's visitor experience. It's very walkable, with a flat promenade stretching for several kilometres, great for strolls. You'll find a concentration of hotels, restaurants, and shops directly facing the ocean, creating a relaxing holiday atmosphere. The iconic Birchmore Pier is a central landmark here, offering lovely views and a popular spot for fishing.
Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find this area ideal. Imagine waking up to the sound of waves, enjoying breakfast with ocean views, and having easy access to seaside dining and evening walks along the promenade. Many hotels here offer rooms with balconies overlooking the beach, great for enjoying the sunset.
Families will also appreciate the convenience of staying along Marine Parade. The direct beach access means less hassle with transport for beach days, and the promenade provides a flat, open space for children to cycle or scoot.
When is the best time to go to Birchmore?
The best time to go to Birchmore is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from March to May (autumn) and September to November (spring).
These periods offer pleasant weather conditions, with warm days and mild evenings, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and attractions. You'll avoid the intense heat of summer and the cooler, wetter conditions of winter, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable trip.
For those looking to enjoy Birchmore's outdoor activities, such as bushwalking in the Birchmore National Park or exploring the coastal trails, these months provide the great climate. The flora is often in bloom during spring, and the autumn colours add a different kind of beauty to the landscapes. It's also a great time for couples who want to experience the region's wineries and local produce markets without the larger crowds of peak season.
Families travelling with children will also find the shoulder seasons more comfortable for sightseeing and outdoor adventures.
