The best area to stay in Big Wells is in the immediate vicinity of the town centre, particularly along or just off Highway 85.

This area offers the most convenient access to the limited amenities available in Big Wells. While not a bustling metropolis, staying near Highway 85 ensures you're close to the local gas station, general store, and any small eateries that might be operating. The town is quite small, so "the centre" is more about proximity to this main road.

For solo travellers or business visitors, this central area is the most practical choice. You'll find the few lodging options available here, often suiting those working in the local oil and gas industry.

The best time to go to Big Wells, Texas, is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months.

During spring, the weather is pleasantly warm, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 28°C. This period avoids the intense heat of summer and the cooler temperatures of winter, making it ideal for outdoor activities such as exploring the local ranches or enjoying the natural surroundings. The landscape is often at its most verdant, offering good conditions for photography and wildlife spotting.

Autumn also provides comfortable weather, with temperatures typically between 22°C and 30°C. Like spring, this season offers a reprieve from the summer heat and is well-suited for those looking to engage in outdoor pursuits without discomfort.
