"As a couple of senior citizens, our goal was to unplug and unwind for a week in a beautiful setting. We also wanted to share "our" VRBO house with relatives part of the time. I can't imagine any house that could have worked better for us. The minute we walked in the door we were met with a profound, welcoming silence that felt familiar to us, as Quakers. When guests arrived we had full confidence that every room would be comfortable because of the individually-controlled heating-cooling units (and we could conserve energy by lowering the heat when the guests left). The strong wifi throughout the house allowed everybody to be online whenever they wanted to. Since there was a huge smart TV, we could all enjoy somebody's special TV show. Overall, our favorite activity was communing with frogs and chickadees at the Audubon Society Sanctuary in nearby Lenox, on a trail that is accessible to all. There are a lot of activities for different people to enjoy in the house and in the area."

"Perfect Lakeside Getaway for Families – We'll Be Back!We stayed in Monterey with two families: my wife, our 4-year-old, and me, plus my cousin, her husband, and their two little ones (almost 2 and 7 months). The house handled all of us with ease, with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms so everyone had their own space.The setting on Garfield Lake is the real highlight. The house sits up on the hill, so the back deck feels like you're out in the trees, and it was our favorite spot for morning coffee. Down the steps you'll find the water and a private dock. We had excellent fishing right off the dock and took the canoe out for even more.The kitchen is perfect for cooking family meals, which made staying in easy and relaxing.The location is great too. Downtown Great Barrington is only 15–20 minutes away for shopping and good food, and there are plenty of farms nearby. We visited three, and the kids loved every one of them. We settled into a great routine: mornings relaxing on the lake, a farm visit, then back to the house for the afternoon to hang out or get back out on the water.All in all, a fantastic experience. We're already planning to come back next year!"

"A stunning, serene home with space for all! Celebrated a milestone birthday with 8 women and this was the perfect home for gathering! The community spaces comfortably fit all of us - as did the hot tub, sauna and screen porch! The deck provided lovely views and access to outside, as well as a nice grill set up. The kitchen easily accommodated all for our happy hours and breakfast buffets. In the basement, we found room for morning yoga, and the extra refrigerator came in handy. A few of us even swam in the lake off the dock. Local hikes and easy trips into surrounding towns (loved Great Barrington!) are the reasons we chose the area and were close enough to enjoy - but we also found walking the looped road the house was on to be a great start to the day, with gorgeous views of Lake Garfield. At night we fell into comfortable beds with high-end bedding - the additional bathroom in the basement was terrific when we all needed to get ready for our day. Last but very important - the minor issues we encountered (cracked coffee pot, disconnected garage drawer) were responded to immediately and addressed same-day! Avantstay checked in with us regularly prior to and during our stay which was impressive and helpful."

"Wonderful lakehouse and amenities! The property is clean, spacious and provided my family with everything we needed for a wonderful time. Lovely decor, outdoor deck for grilling and dining and fire pit for s’mores and relaxing. The kids loved the dock, we used the kayaks many times, and also brought some of our own floats. The hosts are very friendly and made us feel welcome. Overall amazing vacation!"
