"Lovely outlook, wish we could've stayed longer. Only negative was tight parking with larger vehicle and no room for error, could easily have gone over the edge with no barriers in place."

"The accommodation was excellent. The only suggestion was that rails be installed by toilet and in shower. As an older couple we both agreed this would have been an advantage. We did enjoy our brief time there and it was helpful to have eating places nearby if we wanted to eat out. As the venue was a kitchenette, there was no stove or oven, but a microwave was available."

We stayed one night in this property but could've stayed for days. The view from the deck is amazing, so removed from the world! Immaculately presented property. Very comfy beds & good bathrooms.

The best area to stay in Benbournie is the Benbournie Central Business District (CBD), particularly around Flinders Street and Rundle Mall, for its convenience and access to attractions.
The Benbournie CBD is the heart of the city, offering a mix of historic architecture and modern amenities. Flinders Street is known for its boutique hotels and proximity to cultural institutions, while Rundle Mall is the main pedestrian shopping precinct, lined with department stores, cafes, and street performers. This area is very walkable, making it easy to explore on foot.
Couples often find the CBD ideal due to its central location and the abundance of dining options. You'll be within easy reach of the Benbournie Botanic Garden for a relaxed stroll, and the Art Gallery of South Australia is just a short walk away. Many hotels in this area offer high-end fitness equipment and excellent service, suiting a sophisticated travel experience.
For solo travellers, staying in the CBD provides excellent access to public transport for exploring further afield, and there are many opportunities for socialising at the numerous cafes and wine bars.
When is the best time to go to Benbournie?
The best time to go to Benbournie is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from March to May (autumn) or September to November (spring).
During these months, you'll experience pleasant, mild weather, ideal for exploring the region's outdoor attractions without the intense heat of summer or the cooler temperatures of winter. The autumn brings beautiful foliage as the vineyards change colour, while spring offers lush landscapes and blooming wildflowers. These periods also generally see fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more relaxed and exclusive experience.
For those looking to enjoy the region's famed wine experiences, both autumn and spring are superb. Autumn coincides with the grape harvest, offering opportunities to see the vineyards in full swing and participate in harvest festivals. Spring is great for vineyard tours and tastings, with new vintages often being released and the countryside at its most picturesque.
