Massively disappointed. This is a very rare post, I normally don’t. I travel across the world and staying in 5 star hotels, this did not hit the mark.
I don’t know whether it is because they are short staffed but the room did not have everything a basic hotel room should be provided with. No water, items in the mini bar, basics in the bathroom such as a shower cap. There was a coffee machine, no coffee, no milk, no cups no glasses..
the biggest issue I had was with the food. As the owner of a high end hospitality business as a resident of Catalonia I am a huge advocate of Spanish cuisine and believe it to be some of the best in the world. However, the evening meal was very over priced and poor. Considering this is hotel has a 2 Michelin star restaurant I was shocked. I was Served ibérican ham from a packet and charged €26... the Spanish chefs should hold their heads in shame! The national product!
The wine was terrible, €45 for a poor white, again for on Spain. Spanish wine is again some of the best in the world, especially the whites. I rave about how amazing Spanish food a land wine is to my fellow food business owners. Made me sad.
Obviously this is designed as a high end tourist trap. This is NOT the Barcelona I know and love.
Marriott, as a Bon Voy member I’m asking you to pull your socks up! This fell way short.
Positives. The front were very polite, and staff at breakfast and dinner were friendly and helpful, but understaffed and struggling.
