The best area to stay in Askartza is the immediate vicinity around the Askartza Claret Ikastetxea, as this is where the main facilities and amenities are concentrated.

This area, though small, is the heart of Askartza. It's centred around the school and its surrounding green spaces. You'll find a few local shops and eateries within easy walking distance, providing convenience for daily needs. The layout is generally quite open, with residential streets branching off the main thoroughfares.

For families, staying in this area is particularly convenient. The proximity to the school means less travel time for school-related activities, and the green spaces offer places for children to play. Many of the local amenities cater to family needs, making daily life straightforward.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will also find this area suitable. It's a quiet residential spot, offering a chance to relax away from the hustle and bustle.

For those seeking pleasant weather and a full experience of Askartza and the Basque Country, the best time to visit is during the shoulder seasons of late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to early October).

During late spring, the weather is typically mild and sunny, with temperatures comfortable for exploring the coast and countryside. The landscapes are lush and green, and tourist crowds are generally smaller than in the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience at popular spots like the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao or the charming coastal towns.

Early autumn also offers agreeable weather conditions, with warm days and comfortable evenings, and the sea is still warm enough for swimming. This period often coincides with local harvest festivals, particularly grape harvesting in the nearby Rioja Alavesa wine region, which can add a unique cultural dimension to your trip. It's an excellent time for couples interested in culinary tours and wine tasting experiences.

While July and August offer the warmest temperatures, they are also the busiest and most expensive months, with beaches and attractions often crowded.
