"Staff were very helpful. There are some renovations ongoing at the moment. I was initially given a room that was still being renovated, so walked into a room with dust sheets on the floor and missing furniture. Staff were very apologetic and gave me 2 complimentary drinks at the bar while they prepared another room. Breakfast was amazing, really good quality and delicious"

"Really disappointed with this property to be honest. Stayed for 1 night with our daughters for a treat after they had been competing in a gymnastic competition close by. Receptionist had our booking wrong on arrival and only gave us 1 room instead of 2. The rooms were meant to be 2 x suites, but they just gave us 1 x suite and 1 x normal room. Told that if we wanted to use the swimming pool that would be an extra £20 per person, didn't see any mention of that on the booking info or hotel info page. We also booked a table at 8:30pm in the golf clubhouse restaurant for dinner. When we got there we were told it it would be over an hour wait for food as they had a party of 32 in. Ended up having to order KFC on deliveroo to eat in the room as was tool late to then eat in the other restaurant. On paper this should have been a really nice nights stay, but wish we hadn't bothered."

"Pros: parking and good central location. Well priced. Cons: tired and dated rooms. Too warm despite turning the thermostat right down. Helped by opening window but loud road noise so not ideal. No bottled water in the room. Got phoned by reception at 7.15 am to come to our room to access the safe and retrieve the passports of previous guests! Not the wake up call I wanted on what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend. Staff member was lovely and very apologetic and offered us free breakfast. nice gesture but not one that was of any use to us. Check out the following day - no questions asked about our stay - I had to ask who I could give feedback to. Just not very interested and no other compensation or gesture for poor stay offered. Won't be back!"

"Small but comfortable and clean room. As it is historic and old building atmoaphere was incredible, but it wont have the new big windows in the room etc. But beautiful, comfortable stay"

"Out of all the many UK hotels I have stayed in, this outranked them. The staff were very welcoming, informative and the room was fitted out to a high standard. Well worth the visit - evening meal - steak cooked with a good balance of flavour and breakfast really good."
