El Carmen was centrally located and the staff were very helpful and responsive (in person and via WhatsApp) which enabled a smooth check-in/check-out and arranging a transfer to the airport. Our stay came with a free breakfast which was really convenient. The property and room were clean, air conditioned (with an in room mini-split), renovated, and had filtered water available. The standard king size room was small but perfect for my 1 night stay.

Beautiful hotel but needs some Renovation. There was mold shower and wall. Customer service was good. My honest opinion this hotel just needs deep cleaning. The restaurant charges for ice $2.00

Clean room, very nice and accommodating staff. Breakfast is really good and a rooftop with a cool view of Agua, Fuego and Acatenango Volcanoes.

Only got to stay overnight. Checked in at around 8pm and checked out at 6am. Room was very nice and clean! Restroom very modern. A lot of space to put you’re belongings. No AC but it did not feel hot at all, was able to sleep comfortably. Would definitely book again for a longer stay.

My kids and I spent several nights at El Carmen and it was wonderful! We arrived at midnight and the guy at the front desk was very helpful and efficient - he was so great throughout our visit. We had a room with 3 double beds and they were really comfortable - soft sheets and pillows (we have stayed at 4 hotels in Guatemala) and fluffy towels - best of the hotels we have been at. The water pressure in the shower was AMAZING - really impressed. There were plenty of outlets and we were able to use our 3 prong plugs. The hotel is in a perfect location to get to shops and restaurants. Downtown Antigua reminds me of Carmel, California - everything is nice and cute. But it definitely caters to the tourist. El Carmen was a great home base for us. The EcoFarm tour was top notch, Tartines for dinner had a view of ruins, and the hike to Pakaya was appropriately challenging. The only negative for El Carmen is that the internet in the room was slow sometimes (this didn’t bother me) - my daughter went in the courtyard where the signal was stronger. My daughter was also disappointed that there are no windows to the outside, but that didn't bother me. All in all, great stay at El Carmen - would go there again! (Also wanted to recommend Adralina Tours - they drove us to all locations in Guatemala)

My friend and I stayed here for three nights. Let me start with the positives (there is only one negative, although a big one). The hotel is really gorgeous. The courtyard is beautiful with flowers and plants. The roof-top terrace is a highlight and having breakfast there with the backdrop of volcanoes was magnificent. The staff is very very helpful and polite. The bed is comfortable. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again because of one reason. The bathroom smelled awful. Just absolutely awful. It smelled like sewage in there and just walking in was difficult. We thought it was just our room but even the bathrooms on the first floor (for all the guests) had this aroma of sewage. I even once complained and the receptionist did his best by spraying our bathroom with air freshener, which in a way was good but in the end turned out to be even worse. There seems to be a bigger issue going on which I really hope they address. It is unfortunate that due to this one issue, the place is one I would not recommend unless they do something to really fix the issue. Also, we were there for three nights, so it wasn't like it was just a one day thing. Again, everything else about the hotel was really good. But walking into a space to shower and clean yourself and feeling a gagging reflex is something I cannot forget.

I made reservations for eight and they only had one bed in each room except for one that had two. He had to get more rooms and was super expensive. There was no air conditioner which made it a little uncomfortable.

Great location. Very good Breakfast choice. Nice roof overlooking Antigua. The room we stayed at was a little small and the corner of the fireplace stuck out a little treacherously into the room.

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and the outdoor space was beautiful. My bed was very spacious as it took up the entire space of the room. Although the bathroom was updated and clean, it was extremely small. I did however, enjoy my stay very much.

El hotel está ubicado en un lugar que es fácil de caminar a otras partes de Antigua. El personal de recepción fue muy amable durante el check in y check out del hotel y con preguntas que teníamos sobre recomendaciones en Antigua. La vista de la terraza es espectacular y el hotel está bien limpio. El mesero de la terraza, Fernando fue muy amable durante el almuerzo que tuve ahí. ☺️

I enjoyed my stay here, all the staff had absolutely great hospitality, the only thing is the green blanky on the bed didn’t seem to be washed i found lash extensions on it, however everything else was clean. Free breakfast was great they have a big variety options. Overall I recommend this hotel to anyone.

I really enjoyed my stay at El Carmen. The room was very clean, and the hotel itself was within walking distance of most sites / attractions in Antigua. Their breakfast options were very tasty and you get a great view of the mountains / volcano from the rooftop patio.

This was a lovely little hotel, the staff were wonderful and the roof top restaurant has great views to enjoy while having breakfast. The room was nice, the only thing that marred our trip was we had no hot water in the morning and there was a dampness issue. But the staff were very helpful in making up for any issues. Would recommend.

AC was making a loud popping sound the whole time it was on. The noise from the street was excessive and I could not sleep at all. The bathroom is very small and cramped. Overall the service was great but unfortunately I was unhappy with the noise level.

THE hotel is near the downtown and is in an amazing street with a beautiful terrace. The view from the terrace is amazing also. The people in the hotel is very friendly.

I loved this hotel! It has AC! The locals think 65-75 degrees is chilly but I sure enjoyed sleeping with my AC on. You wont find many properties with this amenity. My friends were staying in 4 star hotels in the area and had to leave their windows open to get fresh air. 😂. The hotel was in a central location with many restaurants around. The breakfast included was yummy. Sheets were soft and the water was american standard hot (after 5 min). I would stay here again.

While I found the service from the staff to be exceptionally friendly and accommodating, the bathroom setup was a bit inconvenient with limited space. I also wished for more mirrors in the rooms. On the bright side, the breakfast was truly spectacular, and the overall service was top-notch. Despite the minor inconveniences, I would consider returning to the hotel for the warm hospitality and memorable breakfast experience.

It was a good location, close to the Park and the Cathedral, we were able to walk to other church and the other park!! The rooftop restaurant it was really nice, service at the restaurant was great!! I had 2 rooms!! It was really noise, but I guess is the location!!
