The location of the Clayton was perfect for our first visit to beautiful Amsterdam. Tram from train station stops right in front. Hotel staff was wonderful from checking in to checkout. Our double room was clean and comfortable with two exceptions, bed was too soft and lighting to shave and do makeup was terrible. I hope they upgrade since we want to return soon! The breakfast buffet was very delicious and plentiful.

Very weird setup in the room. The shower and toilet were in separate rooms with the sinks in the living area. The lighting is very poor especially around the mirrors. The towels were thin and scratchy. There no drawers to put our clothing for our extended stay. There was no ramp to wheel up the suitcases at the main entrance way. Not what I would expect in a 4 star hotel!

Breakfast was excellent, wide fresh selection and able to ask for extras. Bar was pleasant surroundings with both inside and outside seating all staff helpful and friendly. The bedroom was spacious and very clean with tea and coffee facilities. Good storage space. Concierge helpful with local knowledge, advice and trip discount codes.. Near the museum quarter and a large number of restaurants and bars within 5-10 minutes on foot. The 397 bus to and from airport passes 100 metres away and tram stop right outside into old town and Central Station. Great location.

The restaurant/bar area is nice and the breakfast is well equipped. Staff is friendly and helpful as well. My overall feedback on the double room is that it’s smaller than expected and didn’t seem as clean as it could be. My biggest issue was the overall location itself. If you can sleep through trams passing by every 15 minutes you’ll be fine. But I slept like garbage. Street noise is loud, especially on Saturday night after the clubs let out and you have drunks on the street shouting until 5 in the morning. For the price of the room I expected better and am rather surprised this is considered a 4-star hotel.

Check in was very efficient - we were early but it was easy to store luggage( and at the end of our stay!) The hotel and public areas were very clean and well presented .Our room had a balcony and overlooked the fountains outside- even though there were many trams outside they couldn’t be heard through the doors.Bed and facilities were very good .Our stay was very good and the position of the hotel was excellent!
