Outstanding location, lots of space
Outstanding location, lots of space. Off-site staff at Hotel Roemer always available.
Unfortunately, I don’t have many nice things to say about the property itself. Upon checkin I discovered the actual hotel Roemer was nearly a 15 min walk from the apartments. No one advised this nor is it mentioned in the property details. They called me a taxi. I stayed in apartment 540-1. It was in poor condition. The carpet was OLD, stained and smelly. The couch in the living room was equally as bad. It should be replaced, as it’s disgusting. I covered it with one of the blankets from the beds just to feel safe to sit on it. The windows facing Prinsengracht don’t keep any noise out. The same for the paper thin walls. You hear EVERY conversation of people walking on the street below as well as every footstep of people in the apartments above. There were LARGE spiderwebs in the corners of the kitchen ceiling and in the windows. There were dishes with food particles still on them in the pantry. There was no dish rag or dishwashing liquid to clean dishes by hand. There were no extra trash bags to empty the garbage. I had to wait until Saturday (5 nights into my 7 night stay) when someone came by to offer more towels, toilet paper and empty the garbage. My key card stopped working, so I had to wait for the hotel to send a driver to the apartment with new key cards. The amenities listed are FALSE: no air-conditioning, no daily housekeeping and absolutely NO soundproofing. I had two small fans that were covered in dust and dirt. I will NEVER stay at these apartments again!

Loved the location. The flat was very spacious. There were stains on the couch and blood stains on the sheets in one of the bedrooms. The staff were very helpful in dealing with those issues. The WiFi connection was inconsistent
We arrived super early — 7am to be exact. Almost 8 hours before we were able to check in. I was exhausted from the flight & taken back how much the cab ride was from the airport to the hotel — so the hotel staff letting us know we can check in early AND we would receive a free cab ride to the apartments was music to my ears. We had the 3rd floor apartment — we are pretty fit 30 year old males so the stairs weren’t too much of a problem for us but I totally understand why people are having issues with them. The apartment was incredibly spacious. The pictures don’t do it justice when it comes to the size. The location is absolutely amazing. We were in short walking distance from everything we wanted to see and do. Every morning we opened up the windows and had tea at the table overlooking the canal. Breathtaking! We did discover we had a housemate the 2nd night. We woke up and there were several bites taken out of one of our space cakes. We found this more humorous than bothersome. We would 1000% stay here again. If you are considering — DO IT
After two emails and a phone call (from Australia to Amsterdam) we were still put into a unit different to our request. This unit was poorly laid out and not kept very well. Couch had bad stations, not sure if a spill or urine. Complained and were given hotel room for a week, room was OK but not an apartment. Moved to apartment we had requested which we had stayed in previously. Would have to think seriously before staying there again. We felt that management may have changed from last year and something was lost in that process.
Location can not be beat. You are right on the canal. LR and 2nd BR looked right down onto the canal. You can even open the LR window for some fresh air. Gives you a feel for canal house living in the long somewhat skinny homes. Our apartment was a two bedroom, one bath and full kitchen.
The master bedroom includes a king bed, two night stands, a few outlets TV, large floor to ceiling windows and a large floor to ceiling closet with hanger, shelves and a safe. The second bed room was smaller (could be a bit tight with suitcases (we didn’t use the 2nd bedroom) with a queen bed, small TV, one night stand and no real storage.
The Living / Dining room was long and bright. The round table with chars (4) was next to the wonderful huge window overlooking the canal. The couch was fine but just basic and not too comfy. There was a large TV on the wall across from the couch and a few small tables for drinks, papers, etc.
Great large/long bathroom: 1) laundry combo washer and dryer - works great – takes a bit of playing around to figure out how to work the different setting but not too bad. Just supply your own laundry detergent; 2) plenty of towels of all sizes check under the sink cabinet for additional towels; 3) walk-in in shower: plenty of hot water, nice overhead shower head turn the knob one way to get water from the overhead or the other for the hand held shower, soap dispenser in the shower but no shampoo; 4) nice sink with decent room for a few thing, soap dispenser
The location was perfect for walking everywhere! Close to good shops, food, and transportation. We were lucky to get a first floor apartment and even so, had to walk up 20 steep, narrow stairs. The apartment had everything we needed and the staff at Hotel Roemer (where you check in) was helpful and very friendly. Our room was in the back of the apartment, which was also good because when the bars let out around 3 a.m., the street in front of the apartment could be a little noisy. Loved being right on the canal and could people watch from our front window. Bottom line, we loved the place and would stay there again.
I hesitate giving an honest review - I would be happy to keep this place secret so it wouldn't be impossible to book for the next trip. Let's start with location... Footsteps from Museumplein with the Rijk, VanGogh, Moco, and more. It sits right on a nice little stretch of Prinsengracht with restaurants seconds away from the front door. Our living room literally overlooked my favorite canal. The apartment was what you would expect if you've ever rented a condo. We had 2 bedrooms, bathroom with heated floor, seperate toilet, and a full kitchen. Everything was clean and in working order. Our family of 4 had plenty of space to stretch out. We knew there would be a washer/dryer so we were able to pack half as many clothes as usual. A common complaint seems to be the stairs. Honestly, going from airport to apartment with 4 bags then up 3 flights of extremely narrow steps was not fun. You don't have to be a triathlete but you should be sure that you can clear some serious steps before you book. By the second day, the stairs seemed like nothing, but we averaged about 8 miles of walking per day in AMS. We all agreed that the climb was a small price to pay. This place was a wonderful deal and we're already planning to book it again.
Ventilation in both of the bedrooms was terrible. The lack of any opening windows in either bedroom made sleep almost impossible for me, unless I slept on the couch in the living room. On the last two days, the heating system started failing and we woke up to very cold conditions and nothing we could do would get the heat to start.

Tolle Lage
You hqve to check email for check in location as it is not at the apartment. The stairs are very narrow and problematic if you have a heavy luggage. Apartment was nice. There was no airconditioning but they provided 2 floor fans for use. The surrounding area is full of food places. Rjiksmuseum can be seen from the kitchen window and it is a short walk away. The check-in staff was very cheerful and helpful in answering questions.
Stairs are a little Tricky, but totally worth it for that beautiful apartment! Beds were amazingly comfortable! Washer and dryer, well equipped kitchen, and the staff were Top-Notch!
Consigliatissimo!
Unica. Difficoltà sono le. Scale di accesso, numerose e ripide.
Unfortunately, Hotels.com only mentioned one time that the check in for this apartment is in a separate hotel, a 10 minute walk away. Hopefully they will fix this in the future. This apartment was a perfect location. Their check in Time is 3 PM, and they mean it. I actually didn’t get to check in until 4 PM. The kitchen had no utensils...no cooking and no eating utensils. Also not even salt and pepper. A call to the hotel and I got some silverware and a spatula. Half of the pans they provided do not work with the induction cooking surface. Despite these things I would stay here again.
Apartamento muito bom, mas recomendo para não levar muitas malas e não grande porque existe uma escadaria Sul real e sem elevador, difícil para pessoas de idade, mas com certeza um dos melhores local para ficar e apartamento perfeito.
Third time we stayed in these apartments administered by Roemer hotel. Centrally located, minutes walk to Museum Plein and Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum. Location is in an upscale residential canal house community, with apartments overlooking scenic Prinsengracht canal. Fairly well equipped kitchen with Nespresso machine allows for preparation of meals. Many local restaurants within minutes walk, supermarkets for stocking up on breakfast items. Very helpful staff at Hotel Roemer. The steep, narrow stairs up to apartments may be a challenge for some, especially with large luggage.
Inmitten von Amsterdam. Ein schönes Appartement. Ruhig aber mitten im Geschehen.

Apartment is located in a central location and also within walking distance to the trams. If you decide to stay here be aware that the stairs to the apartment are steep. Apartment is quite spacious and having washer/dryer in the unit is a nice bonus. Only issue we had was the cleanliness of the couch in the living room. There were a lot of stains on it therefore we did not make full use of the living room area. Great canal views.
Our second stay here. Ideal location minutes walk from Van Gogh, Rijks, modern art, and several smaller museums, local pubs, restaurants, art galleries and shops. Apartments are in a canal house with view over Prinzengracht canal. Clean comforable spaceous room serviced by helpful staff at Roemer hotels a few blocks away. Note, there is no lobby, and no elevators, thus some people might find a walk up two flights of steep, narrow stairs with luggage challenging. Good place to "go local", savor a long home made breakfast over newspaper while watching the activity along the canal.
The location is great. It is a bit annoying to pick up the keys ahead of time as it isn't clearly understood when booking on hotels.com. They do provide a taxi from the lobby of the hotel to the apartment which is nice. Had we known to go directly to the hotel (and not apartment) it would have made for a more pleasant experience.
The room and location made up for the everything. The steps are epic. Good luck!
Really enjoyed our stay here. The stairs are a little daunting if you're staying on level 2 or 3 but you get used to them. Apartment is in a really convenient location close to many attractions and shops. Didn't want to leave!

It was quite convenient to take tram, and walking distance for several museums including Rijks museum and Van Gogh museum. The apartment is just in front of canal, and not far from Dam square, and other attractions.
Some noisy people and group party on the boat are passing in the night. Except this, this apartment is excellent in terms of price, location, comfortable, and near attractions.
I will stay here next time.
