It was lovely to return to this property and it did not disappoint. As ever the staff are so welcoming and the breakfasts are superb. It feels like a luxurious home from home. Walks are all on the doorstep and once there you don't need the car. We will definitely be back and hoping to try the ice cream stall and beauty treatments now on offer!

This house was so beautiful! You could tell the owners loved it and what they do! There was love and care put into their treatment of us during our stay! They even let us spoil their dogs. Paul and Rachel are wonderful hosts, who open their immaculately clean, beautifully appointed, very comfy home.

Foxghyll is just idyllic, set on a quiet and beautiful Lakeland road, just minutes walk out of Ambleside. You have all of the benefits of being in the countryside and the convenience of being able to walk in to town for dinner etc. Hosts were super friendly, very accommodating with nothing being too much trouble. They also offer electric car charging at a competitive rate, which is super convenient. Definitely will go back again.

Wohlfühlaufenthalt im Foxghyll Country House

Unser Aufenthalt im Foxghyll Country House war wunderbar. Wir hatten den wunderschönen, sehr liebevoll eingerichteten 4 Poster Room mit Blick auf den herrlichen, gepflegten Garten. Das moderne Bad und das großzügige Zimmer waren sehr sauber. Beim Frühstück blieben keine Wünsche offen. Paul und Rachel waren sehr herzlich und zuvorkommend und haben uns tolle Tipps für Wanderungen gegeben. Parkplatz direkt vor dem Haus. 15 bis 20 Minuten zu Fuß nach Ambleside. Wir kommen liebend gerne wieder.

excellent choice with supreme experience

Natural site, room is in high standard. The host is friendly and his cooking for breakfast is appreciated. Though it takes 15 minutes walk from bus stop, the way around is full of natural feeling. You may breathe a natural smell or listen to sheep voice. It's an excellent experience and will highly recommend my friends to visit and myself is highly and likely to revisit again.

location, location, location

We have just come back from a Wonderfull two night break at Foxghyll country hotel. paul was a great host, Nothing was to much trouble for him. the location is perfect to access the lakes weather you fancy low walks or high ones . perfect spot for Amleside and Grasmere. you can leave the car at the hotel and walk to both destinations. the accommodation was warm and roomy, the hotel has a old english feel. views are superb from our room and breakfast was spot on, what was quirky was a small puzzle on every table at breakfast, it was entertaining whilst waiting for you home made breakfast (and you don't need to finish it before leaving the table LOL). There was a wonderful choice of cereals and, fresh fruit every morning. Its a friendly welcoming place especially being run by Paul and his family and there history. Hope to visit again. thank you Paul for a warm welcome.

Great Stay

A fantastic B&B set in the former home of Thomas De Quincey. The owners were very accommodating and the location was close enough to Ambleside to walk into town but remote enough to feel like you're cut off from civilisation.

Location is very good. 10 minutes walk to the beach and town center. Room is quiet and clean. Breakfast is ok. There is a small box of chocolate as gift. We book a small double room which means the bed is a bit small for two people. May recommend to friends.
