"Pros: Very cozy dome, good AC, private bathrooms, good furnishings, very cute property, free local cenote was a highlight, quietCons: Wifi works sporadically and isn't strong when it connects (we couldn't rely on it even for WhatsApp, which made coordinating reservations a challenge), the property looks nice but the fountains empty into long troughs of standing water so the mosquitoes were TERRIBLE (far worse than even walking in the jungle that surrounds the area, and so bad that nobody ever...

Award Winning and Modern Oceanfront Villa in Akumal, Mexico

10/10 Excellent

"Our stay at Casa Ligera in Akumal was nothing short of incredible! From start to finish, the experience exceeded every expectation. The house itself is absolutely amazing. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, and waking up to panoramic ocean views from literally every room in the house was an absolute dream. Our private chef prepared exquisite, restaurant-quality dishes every single day. Special thanks to Cesar, the caretaker, and Teo, who kept everything spotless and pristine—they were both on top of every detail and made us feel so well cared for. We went on an amazing catamaran excursion, and had a Yoga instructor that was to die for, but one of the absolute best parts was having a local massage company come directly to the house. Getting massages and doing Yoga on the rooftop terrace with the ocean breeze and incredible views was pure bliss. While the house sits right on the ocean's edge with stunning views, a full beach setup is just a quick 5-minute walk down the street from the house. The beach was crystal clear with zero seaweed, and the beach club facilities made spending the day there effortless—lounge chairs, a restaurant, a bar, clean restrooms with showers, and a cute shop for beachwear and essentials.Akumal itself is a super quaint, charming town filled with warm, friendly locals and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.Casa Ligera is a true gem in Riviera Maya. We can't wait to come back!"

"Our concierge Alfred was so helpful to us he helped us plan our dinners and helped us book a tour. Our waiter Dagoberto was the sweetest! He always greeted us with a smile every time we went for breakfast. Also Grean, Nairobi, Vicente, and Itzel the concierge team were amazing, they were the sweatiest treated us like family. They helped us with our reservations and were always so happy to greet us and help us. Also at the spa Carla gave us an a lovely experience with our hydrotherapy session! The massage therapists Juana and Margarita were amazing therapists . I can truly say they all made a huge difference in our stay. Thank you for such am amazing time!"

Villas De Rosa Beach Resort

10/10 Excellent

"This is a very special place. It's a little off the beaten path, which made for a very relaxing vacation. The whole area felt entirely safe. A car would be nice, but not necessary (we didn't have one). Tony, the hotel manager, is amazing! Whatever you want to do, wherever you want to go, he can help you make safe and affordable arrangements. We ate most of our dinners at the on-site beach bar/restaurant. Roberto was a great server and made top-notch cocktails -- I enjoyed everything I had there, especially the ceviche. We booked an ocean-front one-bedroom suite -- which was massive. The quiet, mini-split air conditioning unit was located in the bedroom but sufficient to cool the entire space -- even in upper-90s heat during August. Summer is high seaweed season, and I was worried about that, but it actually wasn't a big deal. Most days it was minimal -- this bay seems to be less prone to it than other areas. One day it was substantial, but once we walked through it, the water was still wonderful for swimming. It has a light sulfur smell when you are right next to it, but it dissipates quickly and you can't smell it after it dries or when you are relaxing on their wonderful white sand beach. Definitely go during turtle season. We saw hundreds of baby turtles making their way to the water every night and watched the mothers climb up to the beach to lay their eggs. It was just magical. Thanks for a great trip -- we hope to return soon!"

Casa De Las Conchas Luxury Beach Front Villa

10/10 Excellent

"It is a beautiful property, very spacious and with all the facilities including the pool, views and walk up beach. Awesome host, manager, chef and staff! Would highly recommend this to any visiting Akumal with family! Even my senior parents loved this Casa for heading to beach just a few steps away and spacious downstairs bedroom. Waking up to sunrise on the ocean was truly memorable! Kayaks on the property - such a delight for my sons to go out into the ocean!! And of course, experiencing chef prepared meal was truly a highlight of the special dinner and service! I would stay here again at my next visit! Thank you to the host and staff!"
