“Great Value - Free Breakfast and Internet”

Great accommodations at this property. Located close to a lot of great Thai and SE Asian restaurants. Great customer service from all of the staff. The complimentary internet and complimentary continental breakfast was a great value! Highly recommended!

“Cova was great!”

The Cova is an oasis in the city. The room was very cozy and the shuttle service to pier 39 and Union Square was a plus. The staff is also very friendly.

“The Cova Experience”

This mid-range hotel was great value for the location and price. Staff was all very professional and helpful - especially by giving us upgrades for our room. Hotel was nicely designed and it was always clean. The only big minus was the neighborhood. It was very conveniently located - however, there is a homeless shelter right on the street and the hotel was always surrounded by homeless people. If you can deal with that, then you'll be okay, but it's definitely not for the faint of heart. Just a few streets away, and you're in a decent neighborhood again. But San Francisco, like New York, is full of characters anyway. You can chalk it all up to experience. The hotel clerk was very upfront about the neighborhood too. He said it wasn't unsafe, but that there was definitely a lot of homeless around all the time.

“Never again”

The location of cova hotel was terrible! However, the staff was EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating to my needs. You should expect what you pay for in this hotel because you are given complimentary continental breakfast, shuttles, workout room and housekeeping...yet, there is no AC or fan in the room. Don't walk around the neighborhood after dark, or you may not come back.

“Happy to recommend”

Comfortable and convenient despite questionable neighbourhood. As a single female traveller I did not venture out at night but felt quite safe during the day. The room was large, clean and well appointed, but would be improved by airconditioning as it was very warm at night, and a little noisy with the door/window open. The bar/restaurant adjacent to the hotel is excellent value and the staff very friendly. The hotel staff were pleasant, knowledgeable and responded readily to any request for advice or assistance.

Area recommendations
Golden Gate park - it is bigger than Central Park in NY and retains more natural scenery. Make sure you get a map (purchase from the de Young museum shop) or you will get lost for sure. For those old enough to identify with the 60's Haight is a must - also for the highly decorated and original Victorian houses.

“We had fun”

We had a great time and saw a lot of the city. We wished that the hotel was in a better neighbor hood and that it was closer to the attractions.

Area recommendations
Fisherman's wharf, because it is by most of the attractions in the city and you can easily find transportation to take you else where.

“would be a great hotel in another location”

the hotel itself was very clean & secure, the service was good, breakfast was just ok if you call a continental breakfast cereal, toast, and canned fruit, with a bit of ham and cheese thrown in. The location was just a bit seedy with quite a lot of homeless people about and at around 6 blocks from Powell St. was pricy considering the location. The main issue we had was the disappoinment that there is no air conditioning in the rooms even though the halls and reception are lovely and cool - we sweltered thru the night and battled to sleep with the door open and traffic noise.

“Downtown”

The hotel is located near most bus lines so we took the 71 bus to Golden Gate Park spent the day and had a nice picnic. If you want to go to the wharf just get on the 47 and you get off near Ghirardelli square and can walk down to the piers. There are tons of great places to eat we try and get down to Sears near Union square for breakfast. But if you can go to the farmers market at the Embarcadero center for a breakfast at Cap'n Mike's they are located in the back they have the best smoked fish I have ever had.

We love to get on a bus / trolley car / or BART and just go and search out new places.

“A jewel in the heart of San Francisco”

Don't be disappointed this hotel is not near Fisherman's Wharf or other tourist attractions! This hotel is in the area of San Francisco which is safe and ideal for shopping. It is central for doing half-day trips to every part of San Francisco!

“bad area and unfriendly staff, overly priced”

Overly priced. The food is very expensive! Not convenient, no ice machine and microwave in each floor, have to go to 7th floor for ice.
