“Visited for the weekend.”
The hotel is getting old and can use a facelift. TV is a tube set with few channels. Faucets are cheap old plastic. Furniture is quite worn and dated. The gym is well equipped, though. It certainly doesn't compare to the omni in other major cities. I would have found it acceptable as a 3 star hotel.
“Good service but decor is a dealbreaker”
Visited Montreal for American Thanksgiving weekend. We were impressed with the concierge, Anne-Marie, who was able to get us Canadiens tickets for the night after we arrived and was very helpful during our stay. However, the decor of the entire hotel is extremely outdated and looks dingy and worn. Couches and rugs in the lobby seemed dirty, and there was a huge hole in the hallway carpet on our floor. Our room was large but included a gigantic, noisy stand-alone air filter that looked many years old....this made me wonder what they were trying to filter out. The thermostat seemed way off in its temperature readings as well. We were also surprised that wi-fi is not included. We were able to use the complimentary wi-fi in the lobby on our smartphones (while sitting on ugly worn out couches and looking at a stained rug). The location is great, but this hotel has obviously not been remodeled since the 80s. I have stayed at other Omni hotels that were beautiful and was expecting more.
“Great location”
Hotel is very comfortable and the staff are all friendly and very accommodating. The hotel rooms could use some updating but the beds are very comfortable and fairly spacious. The location is centrally located to so many sites and restaurants. I would recommend anyone to stay here.
“Great hotel”
My wife, and I have stayed at the Omni Mont-Royal many times, and have greatly enjoyed each stay. The staff is courteous, and accomodating to a fault, and we look forward to our next stay there
“Great Weekend Getaway”
I stayed in this hotel with my best friend and we loved it. It was close to shopping, restaurants, and museums. The Concierge was extremely helpful and went the extra mile for guests. overall a great stay
“Traveler from Dubai”
It is a very good hotel. I would definitely recommend it. However, the hotel needs a major renovation as the building and the facilities are a bit dated.
“Do not get the concept of a reservation”
Ok so after a lot of research on both expedia and priceline, my daughter (who is 8 years old) selected the Omni weeks ago and we booked it via Expedia on the phone to make sure we had room for myself, my son (15) and my daughter. We booked a king bed with pull out room, and I checked this several times. We also booked late arrrival. So the FLT from ORD was delyaed about 1 hr due to weather so we get to the Omni at 2AM, we check in the clerk (Elaine) made no mention of any deviation, we get to the room and there are 2 cots basically, that's it- no bed, 2 roll out beds and no pull out bed either. So I went back down, the children were exhausted and they claim (and i do not beleive this) that was the absolute last room in the hotel, so we stayed the night and my daughter slept on the sofa. It was the worst hotel experience i have had in the last decade and I travel a lot. It was a horrible start to our 2 week vacation and really disappointed my daughter. I will never stay in an OMNI property again. I won't even go into the weirdenss of the doorman who was blowing smoek in my face and telling me i woudl get a ticket while I was checking in at 2AM, either. Really a strange scene.
“Bonjour Montreal”
We checked and in without any problems, and went to the room that was available because we were a little early, according to the check in person. The double beds had white comforters. The drapes and bed skirt appeared clean and the color of them was pleasing. The bathroom appeared to be one of the popular stones used today. My complaint is that the refrigerator barely cooled the water we bought . I did not like the carpet; it appeared old and in need of cleaning and it was loose. The tub did not have a mat, and I had to step in and out with care. There was a hair dryer. There was a double closet and stands to sit your luggage on. We could see the pool from the window. When we asked for a cot, we were moved to a room with a king bed because of fire codes. This bathroom had a mat in the tub. The king bed did not have a comforter. I used the red light for warmth after a shower and as a shower timer. Both rooms were large. The second room had a better view of Montreal and we could see Mont Royal. The concierge and the desk people were helpful when we asked about things. I forgot to carry tip money when I went to the desk. I was shocked at how expensive Montreal is. We spent more on food than anything else, even though we ate two meals a day, a hearty breakfast eaten late and dinner. We did purchase snacks. The first evening we ate down the street at the Holiday Inn because it was familiar, but different. All in all the stay was enjoyable; did not smell any cigarette smoke.
“Wonderful Hotel, terrible food”
Hotel is extremely clean...definitel four stars with bi-lingual front desk, knowledgeable coincerage and support staff. Food however is lacking and expensive. We blew nearly $200 on dinner that was tasteless and lacking.
“As always, good value and great concierge service.”
The Omni-Mt. Royal is fairly priced and conveniently located in the McGill College area; one can almost walk to any of the city's attractions and hotspots. The best part about this hotel is the concierge service, which is a big deal for one (in this case from the U.S.) in a foreign country that uses a different language. The restaurant picks are always great and the concierge staff members are in fact pro-active in their efforts to make sure a guest is satisfied.
