“Great Location”

Spent last weekend in Montreal and found this hotel to be very convenient to the downtown area. I did not find the area dangerous at all. Keep your wits about you, as you should in any city, and you'll be fine. The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. I had a great time.

“Excellent Hotel!”

Convenient, central location; fine 8th-floor room with a great street view; pleasant pool and gym. Service was friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet was varied and tasty (real maple syrup). Parking next to the hotel; easy access. Right next to the University of Montreal, lots of students. Also next to central subway stop. For my family it was perfect!

“Great location”

Location on the edge of the Village can't be beat by any other big hotels. Watch out for the homeless and drug dealers in front of the hotel late at night. This being Canada, they don't seem dangerous though.

“don't expect too much!”

It is very old hotel; but located conveniently in walking distance to many interesting places in old downtown. Grocery store and fast food courts are in the same building.

“Homeless Hotel”

The Hotel Gouverneur Dupuis is a nice hotel with close accessability to the Village and the Latin Quarters. Their restaurant is excellent and I had the best crouissant I've ever had there. However, I did have a problem with the heating system and noise in the hotel at night. At first, the air conditioning was on and the room never got warmed up. Then at night when I was trying to sleep it was too hot and uncomfortable. The neighborhood also is a little seedy, but Montreal has to do something with its homeless problem.

Area recommendations
I was highly disappointed with Expedia and the Lord Berri Hotel. I made reservations for Montreal approximately two months ago and Expedia calls me one half hour before leaving Chicago to inform me that the Lord Berri Hotel overbooked and that I would have to book another hotel one half hour before my trip. Well I ended up at the Felix Hotel which was a dive in the heart of a dangerous neighborhood. The coupons and the discounts were hardly enough for what I had to put up with that first night. The room was cramped, dingy and noisy due to all the going ons in the neighborhood. Please relieve my feelings.
Dining
Dining at the Hotel Gouverneur was good.

“Easy trip...”

V. close to the Metro, bus lines and the central bus terminal as well as an easy walk to a couple of downtown key streets and the water (a little bit farther). Bad side is that it is near the Metro and the central bus terminal and a little park - so there were some folks milling about that made me nervous, but were no problem at all. Hotel was great until the last night and the Gay Techno-trance gala... I was way near the top of the hotel and still heard the bass beat. that was only one night and didnt take away much from the overall stay, and certainly not as much as was added by the staff. All in all it was great and I would stay there again.

“Not that great...”

Booked a standard room but it was definately not 3.5 stars, i would say its a 2 star. The rooms and beds in the standard rooms look like a motel. We upgraded to a superior room and mind u that costs extra. Parking is 17 dollars a day & theres never any parking. For the price i paid id rather stay somewhere else.
