“Welcome Respite!”

After flying in to Avalon by mistake and being overcharged $1,000 by the cab driver the reception I received from your staff was a breath of fresh air after a ridiculous day! Found the staff and Spoonbill excellent and will def stay again and recommend.

“Great hotel.. Maybe a 'chill' lounge?”

Hotel is great, and the rooms and service were excellent... The bar/restaurant has a little too much duff-duff music for my taste, and it was quite cold in some parts... I was expecting a more hotel lounge 'chill' kind of place given the overall hotel ambience, and I think I could have found that in the street, but with the weather it would have been nice to find a quiet lounge in the hotel. A very minor comment on a really great hotel. (I know people read these reviews and even though its 5+ all the way, they lock on to a minor grumble, but in this case, DONT)

“Contemporary, original great Staff and location.”

I generally find boutique style hotels a lot more personal, then larger Hotels. The Olsen was one of the best Customer service experiences, that i have had in a long time. And all the Staff we dealt with were genuinely friendly and extremely professional. A great location and really slick bar and restaurant. Perfect in every way and i think great value for money. A wonderful choice.

“Perfect artsy hotel in a good location”

The staff was young and hip, and above all they were very friendly. They provided excellent recommendations to restaurants and cafes just down Chapel Street. The hotel was in immaculate condition, and my deluxe suite had nice views of Melbourne CBD from the balcony. The living room was spacious and comfortable, but the bedroom I found was slightly small. There was a mini kitchenette and if I weren't so lazy I would have used some of the included amenities to cook up a feast in the suite. The quasi outdoor pool and fitness center were nice touches, but the temperature of the water was not quite warm enough to be comfortable. I imagine it would be very nice in the summer time though. Overall a great comfortable stay at a funky hip hotel. As long as I didn't have to be in the Central Business District, I'd probably stay here again on Chapel Street.

“Tranquil elegance at its best!”

Unfortunatley for us my husband and I could only stay for one night at the Olsen. After staying in the city with friends we came to the Olsen for our 20th Wedding Anniversay. We were greeted warmly and professionally when we arrived early. We were surprised to find our room was ready for us at 11am. What a wonderful surprise to find chilled sparking wine and a card from management for our anniversary. Our room was beautiful - tastefully furnished, well equipped, comfortable and quiet. It's true, the beds and pillows are magical! My husband has had back surgery and has severe neck problems and slept like a baby. The bathroom was luxurious (need to change location of toilet roll holder) . The Olsen is easy to reach by train or tram from the city, located across the road is a Woolworths for supplies and of course, right on Chapel Street. The only complaint I have is that the rooms are so nice it is very hard to leave the room!
